I've had an issue with ME2 that's now apparent in ME3.

Whenever I start the game, it says that I swapped my profile and I need to restart the game. Of course, I didn't swap any profiles. Then it works fine and doesn't ask me a second time, until I start the game up again.

It was a pain in ME2 as I couldn't do a new playthrough (unless I logged out of Xbox live and played it all offline). What made it worse is that it came with 'your DLC is corrupt and cannot be loaded' a few times. Meaning I had to go through each one to download them again.

Anyway, since the same thing was happening with the ME3 demo and it was beginning to bug me, I realised it was happening because I had my profile on a USB stick. I moved it to the console and the problem went away.

It would be great if EA looked into this. I've seen it on other forums but nobody has found a fix for it (though the above seems to do the trick). Is it possible to patch ME3 to fix this bug so I can keep my profile on the USB stick?

Did you ever import your game save from Mass Effect 1? I was told that was the problem. But, a lot of people have been having the same issue since the new Xbox dashboard update where everyone's gamer tag is in the cloud.

When did this problem occur for the first time?

Also, for me it is the other way around. My profile has never moved from the HDD, keep getting this error. Does the game get confused where the profile is stored?

The profile is never actually stored in the cloud. After the dashboard update, instead of recovering your profile, you can just log into it and sign in from any console. Since yours never moved from the hard drive, that might not be the problem.
