I could've sworn I read in a preview somewhere that the world map eventually opens up and allows you to explore locations outside of Ferelden but I've heard people talk about how once you've used the Grey Warden treaties to gather your allies it's basically endgame which would lead me to believe that the entire game takes place in Ferelden. Which is it?
I was really hoping to be able to explore locations in Orlais and maybe Antiva...
Does the entire game take place in Ferelden?

All Ferelden, no Antiva or Orlais...
I guess maybe the Deep Roads count as "not Ferelden" but I'd say they are more "under Ferelden" than "out of Ferelden".

Well, atleast we have names for other places so mod users aren't tossed in the dark without a flashlight I guess.

There are four maps, Ferelden, Denerim, Deep Roads and Fade. While the Deep Roads logically belong to the dwarven kingdom and should therefore count as "outside Ferelden", they're not all that large. I guess it doesn't help that all the thaigs are abandoned. The Fade is similar, you can go there for three quests, but you only get the separate map for one of them, and unlike the Deep Roads, you can never return to it after finishing the quest that requires you to go there.

in one of the taverns in denerim's market district the Jarl of the northern kingdoms is sitting getting drunk by the entrance who tells you that their kingdom has been completly invaded by the darkspawn and both his sons are dead. Doesn't seem to lead to anywhere but i'm guessing its a hint towards the expansion.
