Yeah, add to that bikini and high heels. All of that would make the same sense. Because fashion hairstyle (which would interfere with shooting) and strong makeup is the most important thing on battlefield.
What's worse, it's totally out of this character.

But I wouldn't go so far as to say "ruined." Some of the soldier-ness has obviously been lost, she looks like she's trying a lot harder to get a date, but I can still see our old friend Ash underneath it all.

The sad thing is you have to look for her.

Ashley: um... guys all I did was let my hair out ..seriously the bun was annoying and I had been wearing it like that for years, kinda wanted to change.
BSN: nobody said you could do that..
Ashley: Wait what... I was freaking Homecoming Queen before I enlisted and like my hair better out...O.o

You forgot about strong makeup. And BTW, there is a reason why soldiers (or fighters generally) keep their hair tied or cut. Not just because they like it that way.nitefyre410 wrote...

How about heels and a skin-tight outfit?
Yeah. Her forced sexyness insults my intelligence.

She even has heels? Didn't keep attention to that.
BTW, is there even one female character who's convincing and doesn't look like Barbie Girl? Even new default femShep is dolled up.

No I didn't and please don't preach about the reason why soliders do and don't do things.
Because considering the fact that Ashley is not a REAL Solider, fighting in a REAL battle , and niether is she a REAL person... the point is kinda moot and silly.

I thought one of you just said she does. She's oversexualised regardless.
And yeah, I agree about femShep. Thank **** she doesn't run like femHawke, too.
Well. There's Chakwass.
@Nitefyre - that's like saying no one should die in ME because it's not a real war.

So yes I think they ruined Ashley's look.
Funnily the mindset they had when creating her ME3 appearance completely contradicts her original design which was meant to be 'grounded' and 'professional'.
Frankly, I find Bioware's continued degradation of all female characters to be absolutely disgusting, but, at the end of the day I'm sure the average casual gamer couldn't give a sh*t about female character integrity and because of this their visual represenation will always be to serve the purpose of fapbait above anything else.

I support full nudity in sex scenes and (more controversially) would see no issue with graphic full penetration sex scenes.nici2412 wrote...
I think this is because, this forum is dominated by Americans and when it comes to sexuality they are on the tier of some fundamentalist islamic countries.
The problem is inconsistency, sexism and context. In combat enemy NPCs wear amour, Shepard wears armour and most male companions wear armour.
Female companions however get the 'sexy latex suits'. There's your inconsistency and your sexism. Context is the fact that you don't need to be sexy in battle. That's what the ****ing romance scenes should be for .

Tell all the women in Realityland to stop trying to go for the same effect, then. It's not degradation if it's what most of them want to be, anyway.

You're kind of overstating that, aren't you? Miranda was pretty bad in this regard, but I don't think Ashley really pushes the envelope in any way. Hell, if they got rid of the stupid heels and gave her a ponytail instead of a beauty contestant hairstyle, you'd hardly even notice the difference.

Well, it's a good thing Ash has a suit of armor on standby, then. *points to the CG trailer*

That's an awful generalization.
Besides, that's the point. She didn't.

Meh, maybe I picked the wrong state to live in, then. It seems less like a generalization when a clear majority of the females you've met in real life either are New Ashley or want to be New Ashley.
And I know that; if you'll scroll up a bit, you'll notice I said as much myself. My issue was that the post I responded to was blowing the issue entirely out of proportion. Fapbait? Really? She's still wearing a fair bit much for that even if her cup size had increased by half an inch and she's let her hair down. Like I say, take away the heels and give her a casual ponytail instead of the beauty-contestant look and it's like she never left.

When you compare it to her original ME1 bust it's quite the change. There's a pic somewhere but I can't seem to find it.Nathan Redgrave wrote...

Anyways, yes, they gave her own unique body model, it just happens to have the exact same ample bosom that every other female squadmate (bar Jack and Tali) got.
Curious no?
I'm tired. Is this some kind of social commentary?Tell all the women in Realityland to stop trying to go for the same effect, then. It's not degradation if it's what most of them want to be, anyway.
Whatever your meaning, yes it is degradation. Men get armour, females get sexy suits. How blunt does Bioware have to be?

Look at when you first meet the VS in ME3. If you saved Kaidan he's wearing standard military clothing that is identical to Shepard's. Proffesional, simple and uniform like everyone elses.
Now look at Ashley.
Instead of being in the standard, professional military uniform like Shepard, Kaidan and everyone else, she gets a sexy latex outfit with her hair out that goes against military protocol.
Why? Because ******.
