You're right. Game's gone gold, but ya know? F THAT! Let's delay the game a couple months so we can re-design Ash(and every other female character that's not in a tin can) because she couldn't put her hair in a freakin bun.

Probably wouldn't take even that long; all they'd probably have to do is get a model of Ash's old look ready and pop it in where the current one is. ME's animations aren't nearly precise enough that the drastic change in haircut would affect anything, since it's always made of hyper-stiff rubber no matter how much hair there is.

Except that would be too boring wouldn't it? Not iconic enough for Bioware...
Not to mention her new look is mentioned in dialogue. So they probably would have to bring back the voice actors to re-record so it'll make sense. Oh but now we gotta re-print everything... ah man.

Take a picture of somebody, wait two years, and then take another picture and compare. People change, and so does their appearance. This happens in real life, why shouldn't it happen in games as well? Her character model also looks more realistic thanks to the updated tech and BioWare rebulding the model itself.

Personally, I thought it was a little ridiculous that she looked exactly the same in ME2 despite the fact that it had been two years since Shepard had last seen her. She should have looked this way in ME2, or at least some sort of change.

Agreed, people change, deal with that. Ashley's changed a lot, her looks are probably just a part of what's new about her. Maybe you guys just don't like Ashley anymore.

I just makes no sense. If it's supposed to be some sort of Alliance uniform, then why is nobody else wearing anything like it?

Spectres do and wear whatever they want

What exactly about it is mentioned?

She isn't a Spectre in the opening.

Usually not in such sudden, jarring fashion, mind. When we last saw Ashley in ME2, she looked exactly the same as she had three years before, and yet now, mere months after that, she's suddenly taken to excess make-up and impractical hair and footwear on the battlefield.

It's been about an year, she's been greatly promoted, everything's changing from ME2 to ME3, way more than from ME to ME2, even though it's less time that's passed.

I didn't know that, sorry. It's in the leaks?

Yeah. Sorry if that's a spoiler. It seemed minor/obvious enough that I thought it'd be okay to say.

Again, as I said before, she should have looked different in ME2, but BioWare didn't remake the model until ME3. It's not that difficult to understand. Not everything relies on the cannon to make sense.

Her hair is definetly mentioned. I don't wanna go too much detail about it because of talking about leaks is forbidden here I believe. If you really wanna know, I can PM you a link, but even I didn't read all of it because I don't wanna be spoiled.

Quite simply, they wanted to give Ash her own iconic and exclusive look. You can't exactly do that if everyone has the same copy/pasted body and outfit.
They should of also gave Kaidan his own unique variant, but clearly Bioware doesn't give a damn about him.

He gets what I believe is a unique set of armor, while Ash's appears to just be the default FemShep armor from ME2.

And either way, "iconic and exclusive" is not synonymouse with "good."

I know this has probably been said to death, but there are limits to how "sexy" you can make a character without destroying all suspension of disbelief. I mean, I can take the excessive make-up, I can even take the high heels on the battlefield, but to have that long, flowing hair where it would literally get in your eyes every single moment that you had to dodge, get into cover, etc. I have to draw the line. No self respecting military professional would be caught dead with hair like that on the battlefield because nobody would take you seriously. I mean, at least put it in a ponytail or something lol. JEEZ. Maybe Ashley does put that hair away when she fights or something, but I highly doubt it. At least with Miranda she cut her hair short and didn't wear armor because she had biotic barriers or something. With Ashley even though she wears armor that hair .....is ...so ...distracting .......... :(

That's why I was a bit disappointed when I first saw Ashley's armor, because I knew right away that it was just a recolor of FemShep's ME2 armor.

That's just a matter of taste, I for one think it's "good".

Yeah, I don't really like Ashley's new look.
I think she looked really stupid in the new CGI trailer, trying to look like a badass soldier while wearing sexy armour and having her hair flowing in the wind(real practical, yo)
And I actually had to laugh during the demo when I saw the amount of make up on her face.

But in the end it doesn't matter since she's dead in my games.

I just think it's way too obvious with the fanservice angle.
An officer's uniform that includes a miniskirt and cleavage and is unique to her? Come on.

And she jumped up how many ranks in the six-month period between games?
It just really feels like they're dropping the ball with her character.

I thought she looked good in the first two. The new hair and inflated chest aren't my problem though... her face just looks off. Like it's hard to tell who she is supposed to be. I thought her original appearance was perfect for her character (don't gimmie that "officers needz to be HOT" crap), and changing her face up like that seems unfair to the character, like she wasn't good enough for the horny audience. Eh, but I roll with Jack in my canon playthroughs, so it'll be awhile before I get back to Ash (maybe by then they'll have face DLC to fix her?)

I was actually a pretty optimistic defender of Ashley's new look in ME3, but seeing it in-game, it just looked out of place. It has nothing to do with the broader political war people are using this as a proxy for though. I just thought it was rendered and colored awkwardly, and I didn't get why she was wearing it, especially considering she's the ONLY one who wears it.

Kaidan wears the same thing as MaleShep when they're not in armor. FemShep wears the same thing as both of them, when not in armor. Ashley wears a bright blue Samus suit, while everyone else is in gritty dark military clothing. Is that HER uniform? Why does only she wear it? FemShep was also a Spectre and Alliance, and nobody gave her one. And it's not an issue of character individuality either, because Kaidan doesn't get some special, unique, non-armor outfit. He wears the same thing as Shepard.

Personally I like how she looks in the cg trailer. Played around in photoshop for a bit and came up with a mini wallpaper (I have a full size one but no where to post it atm)

Thought her old look was better, Im not a fan of the long, flowing hair mostly though. Throw that mess up in a bun and we're good to go miss williams

Personally I'm not at all a fan of the new look. I think there was a more simple beauty (and one that better fitted her character) in the first game than the whole cover girl I-must-not-go-into-pitched-battle-without-long-flowing-hair-and-a-facelift. But I'm not trying to get Bioware to do anything about it. For one thing, the game's already gone gold. For another, she's going to be dead in all my playthroughs anyway so it doesn't matter.

But people need to shut up with the whole 'Oh look, another thread on this. Get over it already.' If there are consumers that don't like a design choice that Bioware made, it does no good to try and shut them up, even if no change is going to come of it in the game in question. Its only to Bioware's benefit to get the most accurate feedback from their fans that they can.

Too bad that's not her actual face, though. Looks like Gemma Arterton cosplaying Ashley for promo. Her actual face is just so much different, but this company doesn't seem that great at translating character faces into CG (if I am correct in thinking they also did the DA2 CG trailer, where Isabela was some random semi-swarthy white lady).

I like the new in game look, if only because she's now a dead-ringer of my wife. Maybe i can now get her into gaming, thanks Bioware!

It's similar with the DA cgi trailer, the companions in it had quite different features from the characters in game. Some combination of getting earlier versions of the files to work with and/or making their own, i'd guess.
