Hello.
I live in South Korea and played ME1 and 2 with NTSC J version disks.
But since there are no announcements of sales in Korea this time,
purchasing NTSC U/C version of ME3 seems to be the surest and fastest way to play ME3.
However, that leaves one major issue; will my save datas from ME1 and 2 be compatible with it?

As far as I know, ME2 was region free, (modify; Not sure about ME1).
And just now, I had a chat with a game advisor through EA customer support, and she said ME3 is region free.
And that my save files should be compatible.
But she did asked me to post it on forum.

Will me ME1 and ME2 NTSC J save files work with ME3 NTSC U/C?

Being demolished my the demo, I will not be able to recover if I cannot get ME3 soon....Help!!Image IPB

I was actually going to ask the same question, funnily enough :P I've been trying to find out whether the data can be read across regions, but nobody's been able to give me a definitive answer as yet.

So I'm pretty much in the same boat, although I'm due to be moving from the UK to the US in March/April, and I wanted to know if my UK saves would be read by a US copy of ME3, and/or if my ME3 saves would be read by a US copy of the game. I really want to play ME3, but I don't want to lose all my saved information through incompatibility, and I don't know if I should wait until I'm in the States or buy it when it's available in the UK. Since the ME2 saves won't transfer to the Cloud I'm having to take my Xbox 360 hard-drive to the States with me anyway, so I'll always have my data. Does anyone have any experience with transferring data across regions? It's only this and Halo Reach that I'm really concerned about.

My experience with the Wii is that transferring data didn't work- I had a US copy of Smash Bros Brawl because I was impatient, but when they bricked the Freeloader my UK game wouldn't read any of my old stuff. I know this is probably like comparing a potato to a bunch of grapes, but I don't want that to happen to my Mass Effect saves.

Same problem for me here too.
I played a UK Version of ME1 and ME2 on the XBox360. And now I'm thinking about getting a german N7 version (because I live in Germany and because GAME is the only retailer selling the N7 version in the UK ... and they only have PS3 and PC versions of it left). But I don't know if my old savegames are compatible with a german version of the game.
It would be great if somebody could give us an answer on that one.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but aren't both UK and Germany Xbox360 consoles use the same PAL code?
If so, and your UK version disks WERE in PAL code, I think you shouldn't have any trouble.
Given that the languages are the same (not translated to German, for example), of course.
But, if there's anyone who tried this out for real, please let us know for sure.

To be honest, I don't believe you guys have anything to worry about. Both ME1 and ME2 were fully region-free.

English PAL versions sold in Australia and the U.K are usually region free but a lot of the time the European language versions are PAL locked.  Looking at ABGX, it looks like there was a region locked version of ME2 but it was PAL/NTSC-U so if ME3 is the same you should be fine.

My Asian NTSC-J (region free) saves work fine with the US versions of 1 and 2 and my PAL DLC so it should be fine. I can't see the Korean version being different as they are always region (if i'm remembering the old listing on Play-Asia correctly anyway) free like the Asian versions. I am hoping there is no change because I am getting the US collectors edition :?

Wow! You are the exact person I was waiting for! Someone who've actually tried it out! If those saves were compatible with all those disks and DLCs, I guess I needn't worry about it. And I sure hope it would work 'cause I have already ordered NTSC U/C version. Now I just can't wait!Image IPB
Thank you so much!

P.S. The reason I specifically mentioned 'Korean' version is because Japanese version was translated. Even if all the ME series were region free, I doubt it would be compatible if one is translated and one is not, no?

You're Welcome!

I think you would be correct about the Japanese version.  I have a Japanese system and a lot of Japanese games but I have never bought non-Japanese DLC for any of them.  Seeing as only 0.02% of Japanese releases are region free, I bet it extends to DLC too.

I played the german version of both ME1 and ME2. Now with the 3rd game coming I decided to buy the UK version. I also attempted to find definitive answers. On the german board I read some positive feedback.
The german savegame from ME1 works with the UK ME2. The US ME1 savegame works with the german ME2. So it seems there is a good chance of compatibility no matter what region your Mass Effect 3 was bought in. I at least hope so...

Hello I am having the same problem. I am on an extended vacation here the philippines and since I am not in the UK right now, I pre-ordered my copy on the local game store. They sell xbox ntsc/u/j versions of the game. Am I in trouble ? I'll be back in the UK on april ='( I can't wait till april to play the game. Also are my game saves compatible with a different region cd ? =(
