the no. serves no purpose as it is now, why not make use of it to encourage players to actually actively look out for achievements, makes achievements awhole lot more meaningful than it is now.

Yep. I highly doubt Bioware would do this even if EA wasn't envolved. They both want to make money.Terwox_ wrote...
As long as EA is holding the money pouch, no. And I doubt even Bioware would do that even if EA wasn't involved.

oh comeon, i'm sure 1600 points would be used up in 2-3dlc, after which revenue can be made, not only that the initial 2-3dlc could help move copies of the original game.

Except on the PC Im willing to bet that there would be a way to cheat to get the Bioware achievemnts without having to actually earn them. This would mean that EA/Bioware would be just giving the DLC away for nothing.
Sorry but this isn't going to happen.

Let's face it, achievements don't mean much in a single player game. The only thing that can be of use would be for Bioware to track achievements to see how people are playing the game. That could be useful data for them but I don't see the point for PC gamers who are not used to get merit badges for playing a game and then brag about those on the net.

class spec unlocks are linked to Achievements, so it's not a big surprise someone tried to unlock everything.

Ssssh, you'll give them ideas!
Part of the point of charging cash for DLC for people that want to buy it is that they can then be nice and give us toolset access etc without their Evil Business Overlords and their Accursed Accounting Minions getting too upset and devouring them for their temerity.

Or make them like Mass Effect, in which there was a good reason to get them (improved damage with related weapon types, weapon skills unlocked for all classes, etc).

achievements never serve any purpose.. they are a gimic to make silly gamers think they are accomplished at something.

My take is that yes, indeed the game industry is for the money, and we are all supporting it wonderfully as per the $1mil+ infusion. Still, It would be great for any 'classic' established game company to acknowlege their dedicated followers with a somewhat deeper reward other than giving you a "score" (let's face it, Sierra introduced 'achievement points' since 'Space/Police/Kings-Quest'). Perhaps a collection of harder nearly impossible quests to beat (hidden in lore/books with no guidance or information that your on a quest etc) which only dedicated gamers would be able to find and complete - at let those points count as Bioware points. Thus doing, a very great percentage of funds will still be brought in by DLC's, and the truely dedicated follower will be blessed with a deeper feeling of worth and appreciation - which, I imagine, would have the follower be even more dedicated
