any hope of actually making use of the achievement points to convert to bioware points?
the no. serves no purpose as it is now, why not make use of it to encourage players to actually actively look out for achievements, makes achievements awhole lot more meaningful than it is now.

Since Bioware and EA want to make money, I highly doubt this will happen.

As long as EA is holding the money pouch, no. And I doubt even Bioware would do that even if EA wasn't involved.

Yep. I highly doubt Bioware would do this even if EA wasn't envolved. They both want to make money.

oh comeon, i'm sure 1600 points would be used up in 2-3dlc, after which revenue can be made, not only that the initial 2-3dlc could help move copies of the original game.

i say its a win win =)

What was it again, Warden's keep turned in 1 million dollars plus plus in profit or something? Once you start putting it all in context you come to realize that we'd be talking about a lot off money lost if they did what you suggest.

well its doesnt Always have to be about money does it?

i mean, if its all about money, they might as well start charging for patches and toolsets.

Don't kid yourself. The gaming industry is all about money. As for charging money for patches, I don't see how any game company could charge money for fixing problems they caused themselves in the first place. So that argument is rather a moot point.

Except on the PC Im willing to bet that there would be a way to cheat to get the Bioware achievemnts without having to actually earn them.  This would mean that EA/Bioware would be just giving the DLC away for nothing.

Sorry but this isn't going to happen.

I would really be against this, because it encourages a playing format I am not supportive of.

With the ability to console your way to quite a few of the achievements, and use mods to alter the basic gameplay to get there as well, I highly doubt that would ever be considered. I'm not sure, but I can't think of any game with an achievement system (my experience with these are from XBOX, mostly) that converts points earned into pseudo-cash. Though I could be wrong. I don't have that many xBox games or many PC games with achievement points.

A decent compromise would be to make 3 achievement points equal 1 paying point. Means one can only get one DLC at the current pricing.

So you'd have to try and get all achievements for some freebie? Dragon Age Journeys is a perfect example but I don't see the point in wasting time when you can play the actual game (I did give Journeys a try but I won't waste time to get all achievements to unlock an item).

Let's face it, achievements don't mean much in a single player game. The only thing that can be of use would be for Bioware to track achievements to see how people are playing the game. That could be useful data for them but I don't see the point for PC gamers who are not used to get merit badges for playing a game and then brag about those on the net.

It's more of a console thing. Does not really translate well into the pc..

Pretty sure you can cheat to get the achievements on the PC, so there is no chance of this happening.

the problem here is that achievements have a number that ppl tend to confuse, if this number is removed, there you have it, problem solved and community happy.

In a year from now, we'll get the super uber christmas 2010 box with all previous DLCs included and maybe a silk map.

Usually works that way.

That mod/cheat came out within the first day, I believe.

class spec unlocks are linked to Achievements, so it's not a big surprise someone tried to unlock everything.

Ssssh, you'll give them ideas!

Part of the point of charging cash for DLC for people that want to buy it is that they can then be nice and give us toolset access etc without their Evil Business Overlords and their Accursed Accounting Minions getting too upset and devouring them for their temerity.

But they could release little somethings that could be claimed by the achievement points, similar to the stuff you can unlock with the free flash game, Journeys.

Or make them like Mass Effect, in which there was a good reason to get them (improved damage with related weapon types, weapon skills unlocked for all classes, etc).

Couple of interesting points (first page).

My take is that yes, indeed the game industry is for the money, and we are all supporting it wonderfully as per the $1mil+ infusion. Still, It would be great for any 'classic' established game company to acknowlege their dedicated followers with a somewhat deeper reward other than giving you a "score" (let's face it, Sierra introduced 'achievement points' since 'Space/Police/Kings-Quest'). Perhaps a collection of harder nearly impossible quests to beat (hidden in lore/books with no guidance or information that your on a quest etc) which only dedicated gamers would be able to find and complete - at let those points count as Bioware points. Thus doing, a very great percentage of funds will still be brought in by DLC's, and the truely dedicated follower will be blessed with a deeper feeling of worth and appreciation - which, I imagine, would have the follower be even more dedicated ;)

how much is USD 20.00 to malaysia ringgit. Answer is RM 84.74!!! What the hell, how the hell I'm going to get that sort of point??? Its dissapointing that the game's archiement did nothing. Still, I guess I'm lucky enough to have the disk, along with Shale redeem code..... and a blood armor, which I will redeem it a little later.
