Oh wow, animations are horrible now

I am still struggling to believe how everything feels worse than ME2, I actually feel sick after I played the demo, a combination of rage, frustration and bewilderment:

-nevermind the horrible sprinting animation, the normal movement is abysmal, you just like slide around, there is no weight to it at all and there are even no footsteps sounds, have developers of ME3 never seen ME2 or ME1?

-holy sh*it, when you use omnitool in like changing ammo type there is a huge chunk of animation comnpletely missing, it just abruptly reverts

-when they said they would speed up whole game I never would have thought they would be so stupid to actually degrade the quality of animations, have you seen the reload for pistols, in ME2 all reload animations were very enjoyable and well done, here it lasts a fragment of a second like in some shi*tty arcadey game

-when you are stationary and move around it feels jittery, there is no fluidity and subtlety to animation at all, there are just so many horrible animation details that accumulate and give you the feeling of crappyness

-the combat feels clunky as hell, especially melee

-infiltrator class gone to shi*t, cloak totally meaningless now with every stray bullet disrupting it

I finished another playthrough of ME2 two days ago and this feels like some poor imitation made by a low budget indie company, how the hell can something like this even happen, what the hell is going on??

P.S.
Also you people who own 7 year old console hardware and buy games for it, there is a good reason to believe that ME3 deteriorated so much because they are trying to stuff so much stuff in it, there is no room for fluid detailed animations anymore.

I hope you are proud of yourselves for halting progress and actually degrading games for almost a decade now.

It's just different. After a while, you will get used to it and the game becomes extremely enjoyable.

I laughed at how stiff Anderson looked while running with his pistol drawn...then realized Shepard does the same. So, I laughed more.

This point has been brought up in several other posts. I think the general consensus is that many animations/textures/dialogue was hack and slashed to minimize the download size of the demo.

Or that is the hope at least. The apparent silence on Bioware's end on these issues is disquieting however.

I laughed at how bad the animations were in Lagrim. A whole new level of crap thanks to Bethesduh.

Only thing I've really noticed was the sprinting animation. They did say ME3 was going to be funnier, but darker at the same time.

Job well done!

This.  I didn't see anything else that I inherently disliked or couldn't get used to, but the basic motion of going forward looked rather poor.  As you said, basic forward motion is very slow and just feels like floating, which is compounded by the lack of noise.  Shepard sprinting seemed ok, but watching Anderson was a problem since the man seemed to bounce like he had springs in his legs.  The weird thing is that the sense of motion for moving sideways and backwards seemed more like it was in ME2, but the forward motion was off.

Yeah.  I'd really like to hear from them whether this is the case.  If it is, then I really have nothing big that concerns me, but it seems like they might want to say, "Hey, the motion is off since we had to shrink the size of the demo."  It would alleviate concerns and certainly wouldn't spoil anything.

I just find it odd that when the focus of the demo is to show off the awesome action of the game that they might choose to cut something as key as basic forward motion.  It seems like it defeats the purpose if people can't stand how the character moves.

By the way, did anyone else notice how...can't really find a proper word to describe it...."cheap" I guess, the Reapers drop down animation was outside of Shepards meeting with the defence council?

Looked like someone was dropping a real toy down by hand in a CGI backdrop with a fog machine. In other words, looks like the original Star Wars. xD

Oh dear, this is just wishful thinking. Experienced people who follow games know this. It's the same nonsense as "oh it's just beta!"

I think that may have been the point - to demonstrate how advanced they are. These freaking massive ships can just drop onto the surface of the planet and make it look easy before they start wrecking you rday.

If by different you mean, robotic and unrealistic, then yes, you are right; it's very different. And I'm glad people are bringing this up, when I brought it up a few months back, I got **** on for it. IT'S JUST A PLACEHOLDER! they said. Well who's laughing now? No one, because we're stuck with combat animations that range from mediocre to laughable for 30+ hours.

Yeah except Skyrim was fun. While ME3 is shaping up to be a low rent Gears of War.

And at least the terrible animations were out of focu with first person not to mention the huge open world that ME3 will not even come close to.

Could it be that a completely different group of people made ME3, those who didn't do ME2, so they just did a poor imitation of it?

I just don't understand how this is possible, it feels like Dragon Age 2 debacle all over again.

Think you missunderstood me. It looked like someone on youtube filmed it in their backyard. There is no distinctive "draw distance" that you see after that shot during actual gameplay. Which I believe is what makes it look cheap.

Dullrim. Fun? Spoken like a true Beth-******. At best it's a cheap knock-off from Morrowind, just without any of the good bits.

And out of focus? Apart from the fact every NPC shuffled along in every town/village/city. Yeah, they were pretty hard to ignore. Huge open world is pointless if it's shallow. Much like Dullrim.

A shallow open word is better than a liner Final Fantasy-esqe corridor.

But we all knew this was coming the day EA bought Bioware so it's no real surprise.

At least the shooting is semi functional.

Beats non-functional combat like Dullrim. And we all knew Lagrim would take several steps back when Todd started popping up everywhere.
