console games make 10x the revenue that pc games make. thats why developers usually put consoles first. you'll be lucky if they even continue making pc games in the next 5 years or so

I can't put my finger on it but after playing Mass Effect 2 then going to the ME 3 demo I felt like the pacing in combat wasn't there like it was in ME 2.

Yes, everything feels awkward and wrong, but such basic stuff like animation that keeps getting worse...there is nothing like poor animation in any game that makes me not want to play it.

I don't know, Im thinking right now to delete ME2, this ME3 demo and forget about Mass Effect universe and games entirely. I had good fun with ME2, dozens of playthroughs, maybe I should just leave it at that before everything is ruined with ME3.

good idea, you do that !

But I thought PC gaming was dead 10 years ago, 5 years ago, now? Oh wait PC game sales have been on the rise and Steam has even doubled its Christmas sales for the 7th straight year ina row.

steam is the only thing holding pc gaming together. without steam, pc gaming would be completely dead. most retail stores don't even carry pc games anymore, and the rest of them cut most of the pc section down

I am still struggling to believe how everything feels worse than ME2, I actually feel sick after I played the demo, a combination of rage, frustration and bewilderment:

-nevermind the horrible sprinting animation, the normal movement is abysmal, you just like slide around, there is no weight to it at all and there are even no footsteps sounds, have developers of ME3 never seen ME2 or ME1?

-holy sh*it, when you use omnitool in like changing ammo type there is a huge chunk of animation comnpletely missing, it just abruptly reverts

-when they said they would speed up whole game I never would have thought they would be so stupid to actually degrade the quality of animations, have you seen the reload for pistols, in ME2 all reload animations were very enjoyable and well done, here it lasts a fragment of a second like in some shi*tty arcadey game

-when you are stationary and move around it feels jittery, there is no fluidity and subtlety to animation at all, there are just so many horrible animation details that accumulate and give you the feeling of crappyness

-the combat feels clunky as hell, especially melee

-infiltrator class gone to shi*t, cloak totally meaningless now with every stray bullet disrupting it

I finished another playthrough of ME2 two days ago and this feels like some poor imitation made by a low budget indie company, how the hell can something like this even happen, what the hell is going on??

P.S.
Also you people who own 7 year old console hardware and buy games for it, there is a good reason to believe that ME3 deteriorated so much because they are trying to stuff so much stuff in it, there is no room for fluid detailed animations anymore.

I hope you are proud of yourselves for halting progress and actually degrading games for almost a decade now.

I'm very proud of that.

I just watch a ME2 gameplay running animation (not sprinting) and compared it to ME3. I gotta say, the differences weren't very subtle at all. There's definitely a big difference in the way Shepard moves. In the ME3 demo, Shepard is in fact moving slow as molasses. During the demo I looked down at the ground to see the leg animations while running (not sprinting) and I see legs moving in what seems like they're in slow motion.

ME2: www.youtube.com/watch
ME3: filesmelt.com/dl/me33.gif

try watching these side by side and tell me you don't notice the difference. Something like this may not be game breaking, but it does bother the **** out of me.

This.

While consoles are more limited than PCs, some developers just know how to work with what they have and create amazing games and then port them perfectly to the PC. So while consoles, being outdated, are somewhat responsible, I think the main culprit here is Bioware / EA.

Yea... I'll take my xbox.

I have a relatively nice Sony VAIO with upgraded RAM and graphics card that couldn't even manage DA:O on the LOWEST possible settings. Cost quite a bit more than the $199 I paid for my xbox. Mods are nice, so are pretty graphics... but not nice enough for me to invest hundreds more into an already expensive machine. People have different priorities, mine is story and conversation (yea, I'm girly and I like to chat). So I play Bioware games. The OP and those like him want something Bioware has NEVER been top notch in. Quit acting surprised and find another developer. This is not where Bioware spends their resources.

Sigh. I really wish we could exchange addresses right here and now so that I can come up at your door 5 years from now and laugh right in your face.

...oh well. I guess I'll just settle with revelling in your ignorance.

i think the animations are a little stiff. nothing to get to upset over i think, but it is a downgrade from ME2

Erm, I don't distinctly remember saying I was upset in that post. Nor was I upset at the time I was playing the demo. But it was hilarious how ****ty the in-game animations were compared to ME2. In that game it was the cutscene animations that were ****ty compared to in-game ones.

250? Consoles cost a whole heck of a lot more than that...when the hardware was new. Now that they are even older...250 is still way too much to be paying for an outdated hunk of junk.  When did the 360 come out, around 2006 I think. I'm sure I could find you a 2006 computer for less than 250.

I'm sorry: where do you live? Where I live, consoles do NOT cost "a while heck of a lot more than $250". I live in the United States. There is slim to none chance you could buy a computer that was a better gaming machine than a 360 or a PS3 for less than $250.
I think you might be a little confused there haha.

No, I think you are if you are trying to compare 2012 computers to a 2006 gaming console. For price comparisons you should be looking at 2006 hardware. When they first came out, those consoles were about 800+...almost three times the amount that consoles used to launch at. That is the reason I see no reason to buy them now. Way back when a launch console cost around 300 and pcs were around a few thousand...then it was a cheaper option to get for games.

My 360 cost me 349 dollars in 2006. Had to buy a new one last year after a theft and it cost me 289 dollars for the xbox slim with 250 gigs. Where the hell are you getting this consoles costing 800 dollars crap from because thats just not true?

point being this a general discussion forum for ME3
this is not a hate rage forum
or a fanboy love all forum
everyone is yes entitiled to their opinion but, when people start complaining they do it out of angry because they do want to play and experience Bioware's next game, the best way possible and there are expectation bioware does NEED to meet, but the fans also need to know the limitation of not just the industry, but the limitation of the individual devs themselves.
not just that but they have made a game you dont have to buy, they have put hard time and money and sweat into something that you can just blow off
so when you complain and say some part of something is aweful or terrible just think
"can I make something better?"
really truely could you do what bioware has done, or anyother dev has done for that matter
and if you think you can please try. for the most part that is how develpers are born.
but if you cant dont complain.

also something that the OP doesn't see is that we are all gammers
it is sad to see the decline of PC gamming
and we are on the verge of new consoles being announced but we are all gamers
and infighting is dumb.
sorry OP, but I pity you putting down consoles
like the mainstream consoles did the PC
an eye for an eye only makes the world blind.

They're dreadful, it's hard to believe that such a hyped game with supposedly off-the-roof production values would have such horrible animations. When you're running, it's as if your upper and lower body move at different speeds. No weight feel, feels like moonwalking. Huge step backwards from the previous games, I've seen better running animations in indie releases.

I see many people trying to defend Bioware saying it's hardly important but frankly, RPGs and all about immersion and immersion doesn't go along well with horrible animations, not in 2012.

So Pc gaming is dying even though it is more alive than it has ever been.

Fascinating logic skip.

Honestly. Not shocked. Bioware just hasn't done well graphically in a while. DA, DA2, ME1, ME2 have all been reasonably ugly games.

Only if you count MMORPGS, which you shouldn't, because that's no indication that PC games are being *developed*, only that certain games have a huge amount of players playing.  PC gaming outside of MMORPGS and the very random FPS is quite dead as far as development goes.  Oh sure, you'll get some random outlier like CDprojekt once every 5-10 years, but they aren't PC exclusive either.

Consoles, handhelds and now phone games are what killed the majority of the interest in PC gaming.  Not the supposed pirating issue.
