It's a demo. And according to what I've heard it is actually the demo they showed back in July of last year at all the cons.

If it is improved in the final version, than good, you all get to stop complaining about this little thing.

If not then the BSN is gonna have a storm of rage-filled posts about "Shepard walks liek a '******!" and such.

Thats good news although I think I can deal with that animation, but I would laugh in the beginning. XD

Gaiden96: Where did you hear that the demo is from July? I'm interested in learning this, and if this is correct then we have nothing to worry about when the game comes out, 'cause 8 (i think) months of work should have the animations and Shepards run speed polished and clean.

Why would Bioware release an outdated demo? To put off fans? If they did improve, why didnt't they release that?

Long shot. Quite unlikely. And they made a somewhat crappy job with the demo. Its graphics and overall quality seems awkward and a step back from ME2. In my opinion, EA might probably have something to do with it, for I don't think Bioware would intentionally sabotage its most prized franchise.

I think you might be on to something there. KoA demo wasn't great, but the final product of the game is amazing. I don't think EA isn't good at publishing demo's. Can't help but feel that EA rushes demo's out.

Yhea ... a demo is not a beta ... the contant may be cutted but textures, animation they are from the actual game... unless Bioware state anything, those are final animation.

Can someone post a video that shows these apparently awful animations?

Here you go.

My jaw hurts now . I also had the "what is with your hands, Anderson" moment. And the chi, I didn't even notice that ^^ Of course I just enjoyed playing the demo, never crossed my mind to pick it apart and use it to tear down ME3 and BioWare.

Maybe Bioware did not plan to release a demo, but EA has insisted and they decided to throw the already "finished" demo a year ago.
I still have a hope, that it's all much better in release version. Naive fan x)

also how come the walk and running can't look like assassins creed? Its the best i've seen, by far too. From a slow walk to sprinting to climbing thats how 3rd person is done

It just needs to look like ME2, nothing else. Or otherwise people would start calling us idealists and perfectionists. The standards for Bioware are so low right now that I would just be happy with status quo instead of degradation.

Every non-cutscene animation of character in ME2 was fine, just like in ME1.

Don't know how Bioware managed to screw up basic stuff like this so badly.

Someone mentioned in another thread that the demo had a timestamp of Jan 2012 so this is the final game maybe with some stuff cut out for the demo.

P.S.
Also you people who own 7 year old console hardware and buy games for it, there is a good reason to believe that ME3 deteriorated so much because they are trying to stuff so much stuff in it, there is no room for fluid detailed animations anymore.

I hope you are proud of yourselves for halting progress and actually degrading games for almost a decade now.

Late to this party but I gotta say I am aghast. I don't personally have an issue with BW having lower quality gameplay and animations than other developers. I am used to that.

I have an issue when at least 80% of the cutscene animation and mocap is clearly cut and paste from the previous versions of the game and somehow the combat, not just the animations, but the companion AI, power precision, responsiveness, environmental interaction, all of it, is worse than its predecessor.

Did they change the engine so we could jump and tumble? If so, help us! Hopefully it really is just an outdated demo, but I simply don't understand why you wouldn't stick with the previous engine and just tweak the abilities a bit if this is the result.

Not threatening to cancel pre-order or anything. The fun is still there just diluted. And somewhat like the SW prequels I am gonna see it through for closure if nothing else. But I sure hope this story delivers because so far I am not impressed.

Edit: On a positive note, I am glad that they adjusted the abilities to be more useful overall and to have more customization and development to them including some synergistic stuff. Hopefully the gear customization brings back some of that ME1 feeling as well.

I'm actually surprised no one has blamed multiplayer yet.

Weird running/walking animations because they're better suited for a multiplayer game? Maybe.

No holstering weapons because it would be silly to do in multiplayer? Maybe.

I wouldn't be surprised.

I have to recall Metroid Prime Hunters.

I have the same feeling.
I don't believe the holstering was a memory issue, and I don't think they changed the animation because they thought it was looking better.
And even if these changes was made to accommodate the multiplayer gameplay they would never say it.

lol wut? Being poor doesn't mean you're smart. He has a point, console ARE holding back the industry. But it's just an excuse for poor programming on Bioware's part. Other multiplat/console games released in 2011/2012 like Arkham City, Uncharted 3, Red Dead Redemption, or Gears of War 3 don't have these laughable animations.

I really wasn't happy with the sprinting and running animations. However; my head didn't keep falling off to the side, like in the last two games.

We haven't seen Shep's movement animations on the Normandy yet, so those might be weird.

And head was falling off to the side only in ME2 and only when you started to move while looking other way.

Animations might be a little stiff here and there, but thats such a minor thing for me I dont really care. I care more about the story, characters, worlds, overall feel of the game. I think this game looks great still, dont know whats wrong with people here...

People have become such graphic ****s these days, when I was young we played great games with 16 colors or less. And loved them. Now a days some people just diss some great games of the past off because "the graphics look like crap"... closed minded fools.

im guessing its because the animation was made with fully-geared shepard in mind.
theres a certain bulkiness to the sprint. and im guessing theres only 1 sprint animation. or 1 per gender.

That video is old before all the textures and stuff were applied, also, the wheel still looks like the Me2 wheel. They should have kept the same engine.

Last time they tried to make and improve a game engine it ended in failure. (DA2)
