no, in ME2 you could holster in combat zones once enemies are eliminatedThe Executioner wrote...
Right but isn't that basically the same as ME2.ediskrad327 wrote...

here's your holstering answer
"It's a runtime memory cost, not a disk space issue. You need those anims for the non-combat areas... so they're going to be on disk regardless.
In order to support exploration in the combat areas, you'd need to have all the anims loaded in memory... so that would be things like the 8-way walks, runs, incline anims, idles, idle twitches, male/female variant overrides, eye noise... etc.
All in all (iirc) it came out to around 2-4MB, which is relatively significant. Also, as you've guessed, yes - I'm referring to the main game (as well as the demo)."

Oh wow, animations are horrible now

Man I know it's not the biggest deal but if you're going to use sprites at least have them run in different patterns.

I will say this we need an answer on holstering your weapon from BioWare.
They already did. If you look in the thread, a bioware guy named Brenon Holmes said it was because of the memory for the animations and all the new stuff they have put in. It would be too much for the 7 years old hardware in the consoles.

Oh wow, so it is Dragon Age 2 all over again..."speeding" up the game, degrading all basic animations, jittery awkward feel to everything, 3 modes which inherently mutilated the design of the game..
Bioware is officially blaklisted now as far as I'm concerned.
Well, aren't you quite the little pessimist!

The motions are a lot more diverse than ME2 but man, they move a lot like Barbie dolls.
The gameplay is much more fluid but the difficulty spike feels like cheating. You die easily not because the AI is smarter but rather your health bar and armor are pathetic..Controls are occasionally frustrating (the X button as the everything button) but for the most part are fine. In terms of gameplay, it's definitely, undoubtedly an improvement.
The choices in the demo feel extremely irrelevant. I can't see any distinction between backgrounds when I'm playing through the first mission. Dialogue options are merely choices of tones and lacking in terms of a feel of consequences. I'd rather have one great level in a demo than two disappointing levels.
Totally met my expectations for the demo though. Speaking from personal experience, I had more fun watching the demo online than I did playing through the demo. Can't believe I was actually defending the demo this morning though.

Your concern is bizarre, forum should be flooded with topics every day saying that ME3 is inexplicably animated far worse than ME1 and ME2.
How does that even work? It is trully an accomplishment to manage something like that.

Did multiplayer really divert that many resoruces?
And everybody in the world except EA's board of directors knows it's not going to come close to MW3 anyway.
Why not focus on making a solid action rpg?
Also why are they running towards the Repaers?

One moment I'm pretty damn impressed then I'm cringing at something else. The mocap is great for cutscenes yet the lip sync is pretty bad, and the combat animations are laughable. The facial expressions range from exceptional to doll heads flapping their jaws. Some textures look great, others are downright atrocious. Some dialogue feels very natural and fluid, and then the lines that follow them are cheesy and over the top.(Shepard and Anderson walking to the meeting = good, Shepard's speech in the meeting = bad) Combat feels more varied and enemies are more balanced yet the one button to rule them all nonsense is terrible.*roll, roll, roll* 'Please just activate the door' *roll, roll, cover* 'grrrr'
I just don't know what else to think besides this game is rushed..

I have to agree with the OP on the movement animations. That's the main thing that bugged me the most about it. I can't get past it.
Yes, but the awful sprinting animation was known many weeks before demo was released. Have people expressed their concernes then?
P.S.
to people who say it's been rushed, all of those superior animations exist in ME2.

Bottom line, this game was rushed, period.. It's painfully obvious from the roller coaster of quality apparent in the demo.

so you assume the whole game is rushed based on the demo?
you do realize its an older build most likely the leak except the graphics were updated.....

You have absolutely no clue how old the build is and whether they updated the graphics. The demo is supposed to be representative of the actual game.

I'm sorry to inform you but the tiresome defense "it's just a beta/demo" never turns out to be even in the slightest bit relevant and correct.
Also you can't get more basic than how your main protagonist is animated.
