As much as I hate to say I'm glade I aired on the side of caution and cancelled my pre-order. I guess I will wait and see if a patch is released if not I will just skip Mass Effect 3 all together.

Yea, well, I just finished reading IGN's Mass Effect 3 review in progress... he's playing the PS3 version, and he confirms what we all assumed.

Framerate is unstable and there are some bugs here and there.... ugh.. :(

From the IGN Review in Progress - Day 1
On PS3 Issues
It's also worth noting that a few technical issues arise on the PS3 version as soon as you start playing, too. Fairly serious framerate issues plague the opening cinematic on Earth, and while this particular problem clears up as you play further through the game via future cutscenes, these hitches certainly concerned me early on. Likewise, lip-syncing is almost always off and characters sometimes appear stiff and can even flicker in and out of cutscenes when camera angles change.
The good news is that these problems don't injure a title that relies almost entirely on its otherwise top-notch presentation. If you can get past these sorts of aesthetical hiccups, you'll find a title drowning in a deep, well-fleshed out story surrounded by intriguing characters, both familiar and unfamiliar.

Terrible news. I don't have an option to play on other platforms, so I'll have to go with this. =(

So are we pretty much screwed? I know Chris said that they will investigate but honestly I'm skeptical. Bethesda said the same thing and we saw how that turned out.

Now either BioWare patches this or we are indeed screwed!

Especially pre-ordered version and people who don't have another choice but to play on PS3, Bioware please for gods sake respond to us, Is this going to be fixed on day 1 or not??? I am starting to lose faith in you guys!

I pre-ordered my CE last July, and I can't change it now. so again I say:

Bioware RESPOND to your fans before it's too late!

@xHezz90

I am just like you pal: I game only PS3, and sadly pre-ordered the CE.
Also this situation isn't ideal for for anyone: we will have a worst version BUT BioWare reputation will be stained.

At this point there are only two possible reasons why BioWare isn't answering us:
-they are trying to fix this in time, and they can't waste energy/time responding us.
-they are not fixing this and staying silent is the best way to assure huge sales on PS3 as well.

I am confident it's the first one.

P.S.
Don't ask me why they can't write a 3 lines response because I don't get it either.

well thats that then, a 360 purchase for me, which is a shame as i had a decent save on my ps3 from me2, maybe this will get fixed but go see the ms2 ps3 forum and see how bad that game plays for most who have played it [inc me] suffers from terrible voice sync, anyway i think its clear we are not getting a response from bioware because to admit the ps3 version is inferior will cost them in sales,  dear dear bioware this would not happen in the pre ea days, youre now it seems just about the money,  i will be buying a second hand copy on 360 in 6 months time, no way there getting another penny from me.

How can they release a game with those already mentioned problems!?
I'm really sad about this!
It seems like another crap port has arrived to PS3, we are doomed with these developers...

I sincerely hope you are correct and it is the first one.

I do own an xbox but I am mainly a PS3 gamer, only using my xbox for exclusive to xbox games, or games they only release on xbox and PC, I personally prefer consoles. But as I stated already my PS3 is my baby so to speak lol. If I can get it on PS3 then I will, hence why I pre-ordered ME3 last July, for PS3.

Now I feel like I am going through the Skyrim thing all over again, different developer same problems *sigh*

Bethesda left us all hanging in the lurch too, and I honestly thought Bioware were better than that...fool on me for believing that it would seem.

If the game comes out without the afore mentioned issues I will be the first one to shout yipee and say I was wrong, but until then I am mainly worried.

Yea, I'm getting tired of shoddy ports as well.

For me, it's not even about which version is better between the consoles... I just want a well made stable product that doesn't have any glaring issues or bugs.

20fps is not adequate. Nor will I buy this game for anything else to get the experience I should be getting on my PS3.

Many PS3 games get the shaft in terms of ports from the 360, but when it's huge GOTY-type games like Skyrim and ME3... it's really depressing.

Sorry Bioware, but I can't support it.

I won't buy it now.....

Sadly ME is dead for me now...

And i played ME and ME2....

15-20fps is not acceptable.

Now we know why was Bioware quiet about this :(

What, if anything, can we do to get a BW response to this? Have everyone send PM's to Chris asking them to comment?

i personally think ps3 users should do a simple boycott of sub-par ports on to d ps3. they aint gonna
take us serious if they dont get start getting hurt in d pocket, in my opinion long over due. they made decision to release on the ps3, if they werent up 4 d challenge they should of stayed on the xbox360.
If it aint up to standard on release we should start the movement on twitter and facebook. No joke

IF IGN is right and the frame-rate issues are confined to the beginning of the game, than it should be easier fro BioWare to correct them since they would just have to work on a small part of the game.
If the lip-sync will be off during the entire game it will be game-breaking since Mass Effect relies heavily on dialogues and cut-scenes and if they are all badly executed the game will loose completely its appeal.

If it's just the "tutorial" I'll live. If it's the whole game; never again.

IGN says it's just the tutorial that has these major issues.

I've played the single-player demo a hundred times already so I might just skip a lot of the cutscenes in the beginning of the game since I doubt they changed anything. Seriously it's not a game breaker. Have we already forgotten how choppy a lot of the scenes in ME2 were? I swear some of those cutscenes (like the first time you reunite with Wrex on Tuchanka) are running at like 10-15 FPS. The PS3 version of ME2 was definitely not locked on 30 FPS. If the 20 FPS cutscenes we got in the PS3 demo are the worst case scenario (and IGN basically confirmed that it's only an issue on the intro segment), then that STILL makes it a smoother experience than ME2 ever was.

@MegaSovereign
As I said IF these issues are limited to the tutorial it will be nothing dramatic...still disappointing but probably I wills till buy it.

For what is worth this is Digital Foundry analysis on ME2; here frame-rate performance in cut-scenes and gameplay:

"What we see is frame rendering time rising from 33.33ms to 50ms in strenuous scenes - effectively a drop from 30FPS to 20FPS, sometimes sustained, sometimes not - and it affects both consoles...
The gameplay analysis confirms that the PS3 frame-rate has definitely been capped to 30FPS, just like the Xbox 360 version (we saw anything up to 40FPS and beyond in the unlocked, v-sync-free demo version on PS3)."

I'm just going by what IGN said. Personally I'm more worried about the lip-sync issues and the voices cutting off early..

The 20-25 FPS cutscenes in the intro of ME3 only come off as minor annoyances.

Probably, I feel like we just hype too much about ME3, that's why the presence of barely noticeable technical issues in the demo hurt us and start to worry about the presence on ME3. The more you hype about it, the more you hurt.

Again, we still don't know how the final PS3 ME3 would actually perform, it can be better or worse than the demo.
If you can tolerate the performances of ME2 on PS3, then you ME3 on PS3 should be enjoyable.

So, just relax.

Well if you're giving Bioware the benefit of the doubt, the final product could still perform better than the current demo but still worse than what we'd hope.
