these are bad news but.. the demo being a lame port doesnt mean the whole game is, they probably made the two games separately and with equal effort, but when they decided to make the demo, in order to save time and effort, they just carelessly ported the xbox version for the PS3..

i hope to GOD, or the reapers take me alive that is the case. but i do expect more from bioware. it reminds me of the me2 demo 4 ps3, that has similar problems. didnt think bioware would make the same mistake twice.

seriously the first part of the demo guys is horrendus when it comes to the framerate. I really am baffled by some people who came here to criticise my opinion like it is not a big deal the fact that the game runs at 15 frames per second when 360 runs perfectly fine on 30 frames pretty much the entire time. To me the first part is seriously unplayable to the point of not being able to be immerssed in the ME world. And that, is game breaking. I seriously hope that Bioware has fixed this for the final version or that a patch is released day one to address that. I dont want to be playing an epic final mission (where there will be lots going on obviously) with 15 frames per second....

Yea, well it's frustrating for me when the framerate is all over the place so aiming can become quite the chore when it's fairly smooth then goes down when a couple enemies are on the screen... the framerate needs to be more consistent..

I understand the architectures are completely different on both consoles and it must be a tough task to find parity... but games should be playable first and foremost.

I really want to get this game, I have it pre-ordered... but now I'm not so sure. Tired of being plan B...

It's about the same as the ME2 demo in terms of FPS, sometimes at 60 sometimes at 20 . This issue WILL be rectified in the final version if ME2 is anything to go by.

^^ 60 frames?? no way my friend.

the demo never runs above 30 frames.

And i sure wish that it is fixed. it plumets below 20 frames quite often.

Same here.
I didn't care that much about the framerate in ME2, but this time it's a lot worse. Specially the first part, both cutscenes and gameplay run way below 30fps. It's hard to play like that and the cutscene loose a lot of impact and charm.

Is this going to be the same in the final product???. Because if so I'd like to know, I still have time to cancel my preorder.

anyone play dragon age 2 here? Did that have simular problems in terms or framerate? and did it use the same engine?

Yeah, demo runs as smooth as a mammoth in tar. The segments with the pre-rendered parts in the beginning makes the poor frame-rate even more jarring. Whole experience was overall underwhelming.

ok, very strange.. I've finally downloaded it.. and guess what, no framerate drops AT ALL.. I mean, not even the occasional ones I used to get in ME2.. it ran as smooth as it could.. I really cant explain it, since a lot of people are having problems. Played on Normal difficulty though, maybe the problems are happening only in higher difficulties.

is there a possibility that you are way too tolerant with fraerate issues? I've known gamers that consider 15 frames per second "smooth as butter" experience....

no pun intended but I am sick with people saying games are running awesomely great when in fact they run at around 20 frames most of the time. There should be no tolerance for this. 30 frames should be the absolute minimum. And as far as ME3 demo goes, the experience especially in the first part is below standard.

Just look at the 360 demo on youtube. It has a framerate capped at 30 frames all the time. Ps3 is lucky to even hit 30 frames ONCE. Dont worry Lens of Truth is going to show this soon enough....

Yea... no. I'm sorry Bioware, but I can't support this. I'm cancelling my pre-order. I love ME and really was looking forward to this... it's just unacceptable.

Framerate comparison... 20 fps average...

Changed my pre-order to the xbox version, tested it and it runs silky smooth in comparison to the ps3 version, kinda disapointing i wont have any savegames but at least it will run properly.

^^ there you go....!!

So can I safely now say that the ps3 version seems ATTROCIOUS compared to the 360 one without being called a hyperbole?

yeah... thank you. Awesome port-job is awesome thanks Bioware for those majestic 20 frames per second -there is no difference at all- version, but I'll pass. I am done being treated as a second rate customer.

It's probably an early build of the game. You shouldn't worry. BioWare has shown how much of a difference demos are from the final retail release.

^^ going by that logic should xbox owners expect their game to perform at 60 frames per second in its final build? Cause it already is silky smooth capped at 30 frames at the moment...

Unless someone from Bioware cares enough to post as much in this thread, I'm finding it hard to believe anything besides a couple tiny cosmetic things will be changed by release.

Again, I'm not trying to be rude about this, it's just extremely disappointing and I'm choosing to speak with my wallet.

Xbox runs at 28 fps average.
PS3 runs at 19-20 fps average.

That's pretty drastic.

So... does anyone know a lot about hardware and all that.
Can this be fixed with some patch. I mean, the first part is just as linear as any Uncharted game or god of war level and despite not looking better it runs really bad.
I'd get it if it was a big opend world (the PS3 tends to have problems with big open world games like skyrim and Red Dead Redemption) but this looks more like yet another studio focusing development on 360 and rushing a port to Ps3

Kind of off-topic.
But I have Dragon Age 2 on Ps3 and it runs quite good. Some framerate drops nothing even near as drastic as ME3 demo. Oh, and It also has a bit of tearing, but not much.
Some sites like Digital Foundry actually recomend buying the Ps3 version if you have both systems.

Though that game was made by another bioware team

going from what i heard. Microsoft requires all demos to be under 2 GB in size. therefore they probably took out parts as the story as well as gameplay mechanics such as hacking etc. There could be others things missing as well from the final build of the game, such as textures and stuff. But anyways we can conclude from the file size on the demo, which is around 1.7 GB on the PC and PS3 as well as the xbox, that bioware probably ported the demo to the other systems making it not as "polished". Im not too worried about the framerate issuse because the MP work quite well (not lag/ framrate issues) so ill trust bioware that the problem will be fixed in the final product.

Seriously guys, it'll be fine. BioWare isn't Bethesda, they're known for quality and polish.

Actually looking at that vid I posted again, the 360 version has tearing ever so slightly like 1 or 2%... while the PS3 has no tearing...

My bet is that the PS3 version has vsync locked and therefore drops frames when the screen gets busy so that no frames get torn.

Ugh, I wish they could just fix this =X

yes the could be fix with a patch the demo just not optimized the only reason its not running well is because the demo is a xbox port. as with open world games the only reason that games like red dead and skyrim dont run as well on ps3 is because games are harder to develop on ps3

I know a couple people in this thread remarked that BW had worked out the issues in PS3 ME2 by the time retail hit. However, I was under the impression that ME2 *retail* was still gltichy (i.e., vehicle falling through terrain in the one mission), and still had rubber-banding framerates going on.

Now if I am wrong, that's cool, I'll say I was wrong. But if I am right (and I am pretty sure that's what I had read), then this ME3 issue is even less pleasing than ever. As I had said in my first post in this thread, High Moon and Rocksteady had the PS3 versions of their HD-era debuts picture-perfect. How can BW not have this straightened out across 2 games using UE3? Again, I am really trying to not be disrespectful or belligerent, as some are. But as a consumer that would have really liked to see the PS3 version achieve parity this time, I am totally disappointed.

I used to think the people who posted the many "what happened to you, Bioware?" threads across so many sites and forums were just whiny crybabies. But I *am* starting to wonder if the acquisition by EA has truly damaged this developer. But even as I sit here and type this all out, I am forced to realize that yeah, even KotOR was NINE years ago now. Maybe they *have* changed. Or maybe *I* have. Who knows.

Hope it's fixed BW in the final product. Makes me wonder if I should switch my CE over to PC instead of PS3.
