Odd, I think something is wrong with your guys PS3's.
Mine doesn't flinch, and its a year or 2 years old....

I've had my PS3 since launch, Only thing I did was swap the harddrive for a 500GB and I have no issue at all.

Maybe it's a bug. OR it may only affect a few people. Skyriming.

I've just played the demo a couple of times and can agree that there is some sort of framerate issue. Particularly during the dialogue scenes - first time I noticed it was when Shepard and Anderson are walking and talking in the corridor before you meet Ashley/Kaidan. Anderson's facial animations are really choppy and it doesn't really feel like he's talking in sync with the audio. Manveer Heir said on his twitter that this demo wasn't based on the final build so hopefully there will be some improvement. But seriously Bioware, something should be done - it really ruins the immersion in the cutscenes.

^^ Great thread I will be sure to support it friend. Although if you see Bioware not caring right here on the technical side of the board, dont expect much.

And I am afraid PC elitists are going to ruin your thread :(

One can only hope we get a proper answer as customers soon.

Dear Bioware, I was about to preorder Mass Effect 3 on PS3... but after playing the demo I just can't bring myself to. The framerate was really distracting and took away from the immersion.

I need to know from you if this is a bug, if it can be fixed, or if you're even working on it. Some statement that you are fixing this issue will be good enough for me. Thank you for your time.

Wouldn't it be lovely to have a non-ps3 exclusive port that isn't inferior. Just once.

^^ There are plenty actually. Especially lately. Many devs now use PS3 as lead platform. Other devs like Bioware dont show a single image from the ps3 version and just claim stuff like "you will not notice a difference" to calm the mob down until its christmas day...

I'm a PC gamer I can understand your valid concerns. I hope I'm totally wrong, but IMO what you see in the demo is pretty much what you're going to get in the main game. Hey, I wish we had better PC layout/options for the kb/m -- but, I'm not holding my breath.

Good Luck and I will continue to offer support.

I don't see much difference.
Textures look about the same, and the shadows are just a bit worse.
Biggest difference, and that is always taken as "worse graphics, I see here are the gamma levels. Which can easily be fixed ingame or with the TV settings.
I played the demo yesterday, with the right setting it doesen't look as bright and washed out is in those screen shots.

And anyway, lens of truth has to be the less trustworthy site out there. Did you see their FFXIII-2 comparison that showed that the Xbox versión was superior. Yet Digital Foundry is saying that the PS3 is the overall superior version

Yeah, the only real substantial difference between the demos is the framerate. Anyone who harps on any other inconsistences is really just nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking.

I've also seen people complaining about the PS3 version of games looking "washed out" in comparison to the 360's in the past. It's because the Nvidia GPU in the PS3 diplays images differently than the 360's ATI gpu and the issue can be resolved with a simple callibration of your display device, which is something you always want to do anyway.

I have played the PS3 demo twice and the only framerate issues that I came across was on my second playthrough at the end of the first mission where the Normandy is picking up Shepard and Anderson. During the second mission on the Salarian homeworld, I experienced no framerate issues.

Bioware, hopefully this is a bug in the demo version or the demo version is of a previous version build and the framerate issues are not in the final version build.

So, it's cool. You came off as abrasive, I overreacted, and I m done with it. Take care.

Okay maybe I came on a bit strong. I've been lurking around these boards for the past month or so and have already run into so many internet "tough guys" that I must have subconciously assumed that this type of personality was the rule and not the exception around here, so I guess I put up my own overtly agressive persona prematurely and needlessly.

So no hard feeling and all that.

No. None. I'm glad we could work it out.

As I said in an earlier post, both High Moon Studios (Transformers: War for Cybertron) and Rocksteady (Batman: Arkham Asylum) both launched their HD-era debuts with picture-perfect PS3 versions. They didn't have anywhere near the staff or budget that Bioware can throw around. And both games used Unreal Engine 3. In fact, as I now think about it again, I *believe* that I read somewhere that the PS3 version of Transformers was not only considered on-par with the 360 version, but was actually superior in some way or ways. Don't clearly recall.

So yeah, just joining Calibrationmaster in answering Comsky159's rhetorical question. Haha. But I understand his question all too well. As has been said many times, one can go to LoT or DF and see that the number of PS3 multiplats that actually beat out their 360 counterparts is extremely low. And as someone else also stated, at this point in this console generation, there really isn't any excuse for it. The Unreal Engine has been used so much this gen. There is so much documentation on how to use it and there are so many people floating around that know how to use it, that one cannot keep on saying "it's just the PS3, and that's the way it is". It's been said many times and in many forums, but it's 2012, not 2007. Parity for PS3!

I still dont know how can anyone trust that site, just look at the 360 fanboys comments. Those guys are pro-360.

Yeah, but no. It won't make a flying difference if the PS4 is as poorly optimized by third-party devs as the PS3 is.

I always go to Digital Foundry for (better) comparisons. Speaking of which-

30 vs 20 fps. I'm a bit worried.

Yes, I know of that issue and I get it every now and then, however, we're talking about framerate and gameplay. plus, that issue rarely pops up.

Rarely? It's consistent with in-game action sequences. If they couldn't nail that down, what makes you think they'll have the issue done by release. They are gold now. Won't see a fix till after release.
