I have tried absolutely EVERYTHING. This is a problem on EA's end, and I doubt there is anything that we can do to fix it. They released it as a demo? More like a pre-release alpha.

EDIT: I have obtained a picture of their QA team leader.

My friend is going as an exchange student in Britain this year, and ever since the multiplayer came out she always gets the issue "The Mass Effect 3 server is unavailable at this time. Please try again later."

Shes tried reinstalling, repairs, and even running origin through steam. I've heard rumors that theres a problem with European servers but does anyone have a fix? it doesnt seem like something that will go away with waiting as the problems been around for 2 days

i´m in europe too and today i had this issue the first time. do you have a source for you claim? (sorry but starting origin through steam sounds kinda impossible and hillarious... how does that even work???)

That friend would be me, in fact (Hi Jake!).

It's fairly simple to start Origin through Steam, you just add it as a non-Steam game like you would any program. It makes it so I can still open up the Steam overlay while I'm playing the demo, but it hasn't fixed anything else.

I'm pretty sure the problem isn't with our computers. This issue only started when the multiplayer was unlocked for everyone (which I think is great). However, before that, I never had any crashes after connecting to the servers. I could play single-player while online, and it'd be fine. So, as such, I'm pretty sure it isn't with our computers. Then again, the fix for the Windows 7 guys has to do with the computer (editing the hosts file), so, who really knows. EA or BW maybe, but, they're not responding. That's what makes me upset the most, the people who made the game/demo are ignoring the fact that people on a certain OSs can't play the game. This breeds customer distrust and discontent.
Personally, if this issue is not resolved pretty soon, then I can in no good conscience buy the game. If this system of connecting won't work in the demo, I have no assurance it can work in the full version (I mean, I love the single-player, and I think that the multiplayer would work really well). But, at this point, I'd pirate the game first. I do understand that a demo is a demo, and it was still a work in progress when put together. But a work in progress means there's progress being made - here there's none.
There's one thing I've yet to try, although I don't really have high hopes for it.
I'll still keep on checking back here to see what everyone else has come up with. In any case, good luck to the rest of ya.

Edit: I still think the game is good (from a gameplay perspective), and it'll sell great. In addition, if EA actually was paying attention and activly trying to figure out what's going on (updating us along the way), I'd be much more 'calm' about the whole situation.

So, my brother (Windows 7-64 Professional), installed and can run the demo perfectly fine. Started up first time, no problem. I asked him about the entries in his hosts file, and there were none. So, the 'fix' stated earlier is only if you've modified the hosts file previously.
Also, the EA forums seem to get a better response when it comes to official responses. As such, I'll be starting a thread there.

Wait Johny are you saying that we were supposed to be able to connect to the server and "Alliance Command" even before MP was released for everyone? Because I had assumed I was unable to because I didn't have access to MP yet. The Mass Effect 3 server has been "unavailable" for me ever since I got the demo on Tuesday and it hasn't ever changed.

Yet another issue to fix it seems... But yes, I was able to connect to the EA servers (I'm not sure if those are the same thing as "Alliance Command") without crashing before multiplayer was released for everyone. I did not have early access to the multiplayer.

I'm pretty sure it's the same thing. The first thing the game does when you start up the demo is try to connect to the server, yeah? It does that for me, difference is in my case it's never worked and all I've ever gotten is the "server is unavailable please try again later" message, before and after MP was released. There's no crashing and I can still play single player no problem, but multiplayer is an obvious no-go.

So, I got a response back. Can't say it was much, but, it's something...
"Thanks for your post.
You can take a look at http://forum.ea.com/...st/8153376.page
Any updates will let you know. "

Thats just their standard response. It doesn't MEAN anything.

Why would Origin/ME3 need to change Hosts? Did you recruit your Origin people from a virus/spywa... oh, right.

Hehe. Even thought it's a standard response, I can sympathize a tad. My brother used to work in a department at his job that did PR and bug-checking. He described how stressing it was, and all the problems that came around.
With all the bugs being reported I'm sure that the devs are rather busy. Hopefully, the ticket will be moved up the ranks quickly.

I have the same "Can't connect to EA server" problem and "Our Origin authorization servers are down..." (or something similar) error. But these errors are not permanent. So sometimes I can't play MP but sometimes I can.

Can't connect -again-... what the hell EA.

Edit: Started playing again. Played through a game, fine. But now I've just been disconnected from Origin about 7 waves into a 3-man Silver. Not happy.

Personally i never managed to connect a single time to the ME3 servers and i lost all hope in playing the multiplayer part of the game BUT i payed for the Collector edition and i want all the goodies promised to me for my pre-order in the single-player game, i would be extremely pissed off if just because i cannot connect to EA servers in-game i cannot access the bonus content i'm entitled.

You and me both, Mass.

In truth I'm normally an Xbox player, and my bro back home has assured me that it works on our 360 (he's been playing the MP ever since it came out), so I'm not too worried for us. But it doesn't make me feel any less frustrated or angry about the Origin/PC situation and for those who normally play on PC--particularly after having experienced it for myself firsthand.

The rational part of me is saying that they'll obviously have it all fixed for the full release, that this is just a demo and that we should all just calm down and stop overreacting. Every other part is of a mind to never buy another EA game after DA3.

Let your other parts take over.

EA obviously don't want our monies anymore.
