Comparing a game like Arkham City to Mass Effect 3 - which isn't even out - is like comparing apples and oranges.

You're right, Arkham City has exploration and RPG elements.

Also, I do kind of have a problem with not being able to holster a weapon; that problem is that with weapons out, you are eternally in the "ready to shoot" position, even long after all enemies are killed. Not very realistic, very stiff-looking. If there could at least be an "at ease" position with the gun held at your side when in a combat area after enemies are dealt with, that would be nice...

This is the main point that we are trying to get at. Littlejack keeps thinking that we want to holster our weapon while in the middle of the fight which is a very wrong assumption. In reality we just don't want to look like an idiot walking around already explored/safe areas with our gun in the firing position. At least allow us to bring it down to give us that roleplaying/cinematic feel.

Even Bioware admitted that it was unfortunate they had to cut out holstering. Not because they thought it was unnecessary and unrealistic - it was purely because of the constraints of a very old gaming system. Otherwise they would've kept it, so the argument that it was cut for any other reason - is invalid and is simply an attempt to justify to yourself another mistake. I don't understand why people stay loyal to this company, you realize you don't owe Bioware anything, yes?... it's like an abusive relationship where the woman gets hit non-stop yet keeps  reassuring herself that her partner is actually good and loving....

^^ OH PLEASE... dont tell me you are going to fall for that excuse....

that is one of the most stupid things I have ever heard an official company representative ever say. We have seen open world games with much more complicated and better animation than ME3 and they had no issues. If Bioware cant do it, then I am sorry but the reason is that they simply SUCK at coding...

Console limitations with memory of animations and no PC optimization <-- It's a wonder why PC players even want to buy the game at full price.

I know I'm not.

I think it's probable that they wouldn't have to face this decision if they were making the game for PC or PS3 instead. However, what you wrote is true - while we don't have all the details it's very possible that a different, better developer who doesn't suck as much as Bioware would've found a solution or workaround to overcome this limitation.

The exploration part I'll give you, but saying Arkham City had RPG elements and Mass Effect 3 doesn't is just idiotic. It has an upgrade system, but that's really about it.

Why the hell would you walk around with your gun holstered in a combat zone...

It doesn't make sense that they "took out walking animations for space" ...because we're not going to be walking around the normandy with our guns... so...

Are we going to be running around in the clubs & public places also. While all the other animations are walking?

In combat zones, you have the gun out. In normal places, you holster the gun.

Good. I was worried there.

I would not, but neither would I walk around with my arms extended out holding a weapon when there is clearly no threat at that time, bloody arms would become fatigued, not a lot of help if another fight starts and your arms are too tired to aim properly.

OK, can we reduce our movement speed in combat zones on the PC version?

Bioware needs to simply patch in the ability to holster your gun & walk. Before & after we kill all the enemies players might want to explore.

Take a large stick, jam it up your butt, then you'll be able to walk like they do in ME3.

point being this a general discussion forum for ME3
this is not a hate rage forum
or a fanboy love all forum
everyone is yes entitiled to their opinion but, when people start complaining they do it out of angry because they do want to play and experience Bioware's next game, the best way possible and there are expectation bioware does NEED to meet, but the fans also need to know the limitation of not just the industry, but the limitation of the individual devs themselves.
not just that but they have made a game you dont have to buy, they have put hard time and money and sweat into something that you can just blow off
so when you complain and say some part of something is aweful or terrible just think
"can I make something better?"
really truely could you do what bioware has done, or anyother dev has done for that matter
and if you think you can please try. for the most part that is how develpers are born.
but if you cant dont complain.

They needed to save 2-4 MB of memory and removed it.

I wonder how much memory Kinect uses?

It was a memory limitation.  The PS3 is actually MORE constrained on memory than the 360.

So sure, if they were just making it for the PC they wouldn't have this problem.  Then again, they'd be broke and making no money either.  So you're right - they wouldn't have this problem.

I'm going to cancel my pre-order !!!

Not really, but this disappoints me. In the first two games I always holtsterd my weapon when a area was cleared of bad guys. It makes things much easier to look for things, and it seems a bit more realistic. Might be a minor thing, but still it breaks the immersion a bit, at least for me. I like my down time between battles.
