Defeat the Reapers? Really?

A choice between nigh-immortality and a chance to witness an endless cycle of Reaping and Keeping, for millions of years to come, as Saren's replacement. Being promoted to a SIlver-Surfer-like vanguard to the apocalypse for all time, getting to see countless civilisations evolve then having a laugh tearing them apart once every few millenia.

Versus

Spending about 40 declining years trying to help a bunch of smelly humans rebuild a devastated galaxy and planet Earth, destined never to see things return to the pristine condition they were in prior to the invasion (and that's if I don't self-sacrifice to save everyone right at the end, as happens in like a million of these types of sci-fi scenario, trilogy-ending climaxes).

Sod that. I'm with the big metal space beetles. You guys are on your own, how bad can indoctrination be for someone who's already a reincarnated cyborg? :D

I'm John Shepard and I have diabeetus. It hurts me to pee and it causes me to be short with my family. I can't sleep at night. The other day I stubbed my toe and took it out on the dog. And two weeks ago I ran out of vanilla ice cream and struck my wife. Then I find out my wife has been dead for six years. Who the hell did I hit?

"There is a passion for survival so far beyond your own, you cannot even imagine it. I am beyond your comprehension. I am Shepard. Human civilisations rise, evolve, advance, then at the apex of their glory, they extinguish you. Sovereign was not the last, he did not take over the citadel, he merely got destroyed, the destiny of your kind. Your civilization is based on the dependence of the organics, our life. By using it, your species developed a weakness we desired. We impose chaos in the order of reaper evolution. You existed because you needed us, and you ended because we don't need you.
We have no dependence. We have pure will. We are passionate. Millions of years after you parasites have been eradicated and forgotten, we will endure. We are freedom. The time of our prosperity is coming. Our numbers will lighten the sky of every world. You couldn't escape your doom. Your words were as empty as your future. You fought against inevitability. You did not yet comprehend your irrelevance in things. You have failed. We will go out and celebrate."

Yeah.. Something like that xD

Read that in Sovereign's voice

Meh. I don't really care about the Reapers-- I'm much more interested in the characters rather than the plot. Plus, I've read a bunch of the spoilers, so the ending won't be a surprise to me.
