So of all the 'metal' in advertising , they use some alternative rock as the final song? Why?

Of all the songs to use, they some crappy alternative rock? Why? Alternative rock doesn't go with fantasy. Plus, Metal actually does go with fantasy (although not Manson).

How does metal go with medieval fantasy? Alternative rock(if it's not pearl jam and other bands) is garbage, but metal and fantasy? What?
You obviously never heard of Folk Metal. (Or Viking Metal, Pagan Metal, Battle Metal, etc. etc. etc.)

Symphonic metal, power metal, gothic, folk metal... anyone?
There are plenty of metal bands that deal almost exclusively with fantasy related lyrics sooooooooo
I suggest you make your research on metal genres before coming to such conclusions as metal certainly isn't just Metallica (which I love btw but admit it wouldn't fit with this setting)

This. People seem to stereotype Metal quickly. Not everything is Thrash metal.

I stand corrected. Some of those scandinavian bands really do fit the genre. I suppose my definition of metal is skewed.

A decision on behalf of EA and the label of 30 Seconds to Mars. I think they've released an album recently. Simple. No matter it doesn't make sense and sounds very bad in comparison with Manson. He didn't fit in too good too, mind you.
Manson was a bad choice, admittedly. However, some power metal, folk metal, viking metal etc would've fit far more than any alternative rock.

Hmm, I thought that the 30 Seconds to Mars song kicked ass. I must just have poor taste.

Metal has been influenced by fantasy since the very beginning: Led Zeppelin, argueably the most influential band in the metal genre, wrote a lot of songs inspired by Lord of the Rings. Fantasy author Michael Moore**** would occasionaly be up on stage with bands like Hawkwind and recite passages from his books back in the 70s. I'd wager metal has more songs based on fantasy books than all other music genres combined.
Edit: Heh, they censored poor Michael's name.

I've always considered Led Zeppelin and Hawkwind to be progressive rock bands. I'm no music buff though, still it seems my definition of metal was badly skewed and well, you learn something new everyday.
