So of all the 'metal' in advertising , they use some alternative rock as the final song? Why?

I really don't know anything about them but after listening to their music I can't distinguish them from any other band from that genre and the singer is just annoying.

Yeah I wish they didn't too... Oh well probably had something to do with licensing and rights...
Wish they used something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ctCIUTySM4 or since the first might be too hardcore for a closure (and to further prove my point on metal+fantasy

As for the end credits song, it's ok. But it's kind of bland rock. Nothing remakable about it. That's why it's better to just use classical. As most people can't write a decent rock/metal song unless they are a decent rock/metal band. And that will cost a decent amount of money.

Outside of the game that band isn't really my thing though.

And why would alternative rock music be so much worse for the fantasy genre than classical music? Especially during the battles some uptempo rock music can fit in very good.
In general Heavy Metal music has always been associated with fantasy style art... there is even a fantasy comics magazine (and a series of cartoony movies) by exactly that name!
But it's clear that you can never please everyone... no matter which songs they pick, there are always people who will not like them.

had the firs song been used as at an ending montage, or something showing the epic clips from your journey that would be epic. credits too if there were some kind of background music.
Rhapsody's "magic of the wizards dream" (yeah, nerd fantasy title) with Christopher Lee would be awesome too.

I wanted the entire soundtrack of this game to be Carmina Burana. Why, BioWare, why???

No, it's not metal in any way, shape or form. You are showing off your ignorance here.Ok, before I start Manson's music is arguably metal. Maybe not metal that fits with fantasy, but still.

I was really hoping for a Mass Effect-type experience as far as the ending credits were concerned. In Mass Effect they used the credits as a chance to showcase a relatively unknown (but kickass) band, not to mention the song fit the mood perfectly. Honestly, Faunts is now in my top-ten favorite bands, and it was all thanks to Bioware.

I imagine little girls serenading that song to a poster of the lead singer framed in Christmas lights in their otherwise pink bedroom with their hands clasped to their hearts, swaying side to side with their teary eyes closed tight. After the song, she blog about how dreamy the lead singer is and how her mom is so mean because she won't let her go to the show next week but she has a plan: she's going to sneak out with her friend Amy's older sister Julie who just go her license and they're going to take Billy's dad's car because he'll be out of town and so she'll go to the show and the lead singer will look right at her and ask her and her friends to come backstage after the show and they'll talk about how hard life is and how her mom just doesn't get it and it'll be awesome!!!!!!!!
Am I really the only one imagined this upon hearing that song?

Now if they wanted to get the rights. Some Manson (Antichrist album- his only decent album), or Danzig would have been cool. Danzig has some cool dark stuff. Maybe some Slayer too. But no need for that. If I wanted to, I could just put on my itunes during the credits and listen to those bands.

A decision on behalf of EA and the label of 30 Seconds to Mars. I think they've released an album recently. Simple. No matter it doesn't make sense and sounds very bad in comparison with Manson. He didn't fit in too good too, mind you.
Manson was a bad choice, admittedly. However, some power metal, folk metal, viking metal etc would've fit far more than any alternative rock.
don't forget true metal. And by that I man Manowar.
Not to many people heard of these guys, but many Manowar songs deal with medieval battles and war. I sound like I'm plugging the band, and I am. I only discovered these guys a few years ago, but they really fit well if you like D&D type games. Defender, Dark Avenger, battle hymn, march for revenge, gates of valhalla, bridge of death, hail and kill, blood of the kings, ride the dragin, kingdom come, hand of doom. The list goes on. Those are all fantasy and/or medieval war and conquest songs.
But they aren't popular with the young kids. Many kids think lyrics about fantasy stuff is cheesy, so they never were popular in the U.S. (they are popular in Europe)
