Well...the kid was right...we can't help him because the devs wants him to die and he knew...

Seems ridiculously bad and probably not something a child would say,

You're surprised that there's bad writing in an ME game without Karpyshyn. Really?

Go back in time.
Become a kid again.
See everything you know and everyone get killed all around you.
Try to think coherently.

It's a line with Hamburger Helper's seal of approval on it, I'm sure. Because such a conclusion implies awareness of a greater context. The kid would have to understand the threat posed by the Reapers, and just how doomed the Earth is, in order to conclude that Shepard can't help him. Any other kid would sit crying and weeping and take the hand of the first helpful adult to come by.

But again I have previously raised my suspicions that Child is in fact not a human being at all, but instead a hyper advanced japanese robot capable of mimicing sentient life. There reason I think this is because no responsible mother would leave her kid alone in a ten square meter garden on a towering roof. In fact, Child appeared to have no parents at all, nor a name.

It means the child is no longer a child and can make independent choices including choices with high chance of death.

It was a philosofical man trapped in a boys body.
Most children would be screaming and throwing themself into the arms of nearest adult in a situation like this.If Sheppard found me in a vent, I know I would have, and I'm an adult :)

The child was clearly pregnant with a Reaper baby and needed to get blown up otherwise they would eat the earth too fast.

Really? I'm very eager to see how Mass Effect would look like if you have written it. (it's not an attack to you or anyone just an rhethorical sentence)

I thought the general consensus was that the kid is a figment of Shepard's imagination, anyway, and hallucinations say weird things all the time. *imaginary friend nods approval*

Well depends on how much of a role you mean. I'm frankly not a good writer in terms of creativity, I'm more of an editor. Actually editing is more or less my job, I work as a tutor at a local University so have to mark essays etc.

I'm certainly not saying that I personally could do better, I just wish that Drew had remained as the lead writer instead of Mac.

Oh for pity's sake, this is what people are complaining about? That a kid would not say that unless he had a greater context of what was going on? Ooooooor... The kids parents told him not to accept help from strangers. Shep = stranger and thus cannot help him. Maybe he just saw his mom exploded and he was saying that Shepard could not help because he could not bring her back. The are countless reasons why he might say that.

Yes....which is why it is sush a shocker and why we have such trouble understanding the plain words....they indicate deliberate choice, an act of will that implies an understanding and acceptance of the consequences....maturity far beyond what the eyes can see and the mind can comprehend....it means that the choice is well understood and nothing you can do will change it.

Or it just means that giant monsters just destroyed his teddy bear and the kid did not think Shepard could help him.

There is untold depth and philosophical implications in such a line. Apparently, many people aren't capable of comprehending BioWare's amazing storytelling. That's before you consider the delivery, when delivered in such a masterful way, one can only conclude th-

I still think the intro was better than in ME2 where Shepard dies and is then brough back. Oh look it's been two years and youre now with Cerberus... And what are these "thermal clip" things and robots with red square faces attacking you?

Thanks.
