No, the mattock is uncommon. All the weapons are. Every time you buy a veteran pack, there's guaranteed to be an uncommon item in it. It could be ANY weapon, or it could be a character, or character upgrade.

The Mattock is very weak compare to it's ME2 counterpart. The Avenger is pretty damn good; light weight and packs a punch.

Fool! The avenger is terrible compare to the Mattock. (Okay I must say that full-auto weaponry was never my taste in any game)

the more you find the mattock the better the version gets and the better the weapon gets ...so every wepaon can become good if you find it...I like that. You dont have to go to much by the stats and more by what suits your playstyle the best.

Less damage (DPS) then Harrier (especially if you don't have) but if you can headshot its good for an AR. Good punch at upper levels, nice ammo level and not too heavy.
