You know why Shepard isn't dead and that scene made to the final build?
Amateurs finishing a trilogy made by a genius, thinking that would be awesome to add some "Call of Duty" feel to the game.
Because of course a Cutscene with tons of people watching Reaper wrecking a military base isn't enough...

Good thing you won't waste your money on it though, right?

I wouldn't joke about it, there are immoral people who pirate.

Implying that I would pirate or buy it.
And accusing that I would pirate is some serious accusation , hope you have proof because piracy is crime.

I didn't accuse you.

Accusing you of buying this would be as serious of an accusation too though.

I can buy later if they release a patch modifying the textures to HQ and tweak the UI for PC.
And if my friends that I know that will buy it anyway, says well Taka, besides the dumb reapers the story gets good and the ending can be satisfying.
Sure that I will acquire the product.

But like I said based fully on the demo, you are going to scare your customer, the short story made me cringe.

And no I'm not the kind of the forum poster that will say I WILL NEVER BUY X STUFF.
I will delay my buy until I find the price worthy for its content, I did it with Dragon Age 2, paid 20 bucks.

Forums like this are a waste of everyone's time. It's just people complaining about a game that has already gone gold and can't be changed anyway. If you are going to start a forum soley for the purpose of complaining rather than even pointing out any of the parts of it you liked, don't be surpirsed when you get this headache of a thread.

Stupid comment.

JUST RE-WRITE IT SO IT MAKES SENSE.

Like....there's no big reapers near Normandy or shepard.
Or - a few cruisers/gunships engage that reaper nearest to the Normandy to distract it while it picks up Shep and Anderson.

See? Two simple solutions I could think up in 5 seconds.
So why can't Bio devote 5 seconds to this?

There were ships closer to it and people shooting at it.

Which ships? What people?

Again, there's several reapers near the Normandy. No other warship visible. And between a warship an a guy with a gun - the priority is the warship.

Another question that could be asked is why did the Normandy just hoover there and watch the civilians get killed?

It's so surreal that they just stand there and watch kind of like "Uhmm big reaper thingy coming commander should we do something or at least try too?...No..okay you read the script and were just supposed to stay here ..i see..preparing to fly off like we haven't got a care in the world..roger".

See if the scene had worked like this.

Reaper breaks though and does the Bwwwwwwah"
Shep :"Oh S***...S*** fire everything try to give the civilians some cover".
Normandy fire like crazy on the reaper which is unfazed.
Shep (clinging to the bulkhead from the shaking of the barrage laid down by the Normandy) - "come onn come on"
Reaper leisurely takes down the shuttles and then begins to fire at the Normandy"
Shep :"Pilot get us the hell out of here!!!"
Normandy flies of while maneuvering to evade fire.

One of the funny things about this forum is that people criticize the writing but they write crap like this. If this was in the script, there would've been nothing but complaints.

Ironicly, this "crap" makes 10 tiems more sense than what's in the game...

I hate to say it but that is pretty bad and shows what I think the problem is.  People complaining about writing need EVERYTHING explained to them.  Lets make it more realistic:

Reaper breaks though and does the Bwwwwwwah"
Shep :"Oh S***...S*** (Wipe out this and put in one expletive since Shepard's character isn't known for panicing like that, ever,) fire everything try to give the civilians some cover". (First of all they're Alliance troopers evacing civilians.  "Joker/Pilot, lay down some cover for those soldiers/shuttles down there!"  This whole scenario ignores the fact that the Normandy is in a positon to actually cover them and would automatically become a target thus killing Shep and any chance of defeating the Reapers...)

Normandy fire like crazy on the reaper which is unfazed.  (one shot would do to distract them, no reason to go over the top.  Not to mention Frigate payloads, especially the SR2's, are heavy duty weapons that could do as much dmg to the shuttles as they try to do to the Reaper)

Shep (clinging to the bulkhead from the shaking of the barrage laid down by the Normandy) - "come onn come on"
(Why would Shep say that when he knows the Reapers take very little to no damage?  Doesn't make sense)

Reaper leisurely takes down the shuttles and then begins to fire at the Normandy" (Normandy is most likely dead)

Shep :"Pilot get us the hell out of here!!!" (Shepard can't say that, he/she is dead because a Reaper just lasered them up.  Not hard to hit a target that isn't moving fast like in space.  I don't care how good the Pilot/Joker is.)

The logical thing to happen this scenario is that Shepard and the Normandy get blown up because they change their goal from escaping to fight the Reapers another day, to fighting and protecting civilians and even taking Reaper fire.  Instead they survive.  Bad writing.

The basics are sound. Shep tries to save the shuttle. Fails and runs away, having no other choice.

Normandy coul very well fire off a few shots, Reaper ignores it and continues to attack the shuttles. Shep orders retreat before that repear turns around. He sees the shuttle with the kid get destroyed.

It actually doesn't. Also, irony doesn't mean what you think it means. For someone who is supposed to be so intelligent, you look pretty dumb.

Why did the Reapers not target the Normandy with their super death ray but instead shoot down the two worthless shuttles? They could have won right there.

Because the reapers were just attacking earth casually because they are badasses that do it every 50,000 years or whatever.

It's like, they probably don'e care about a few ships escaping, they are decimating the population.

I actually really liked the fact the reapers didn't hit america first, but everyone knew it was about to happen. Then the reapers just casually strolled in and started picking off the platter.

They don't need to care about a ship escaping, I doubt they are really that fussed.

What if those smaller (it's one of the small ones, right?) reapers see/prioritize things in motion? Cliche I know, but in the Tuchanka video we had seen, when Shepard stops moving, the reaper misses him.

The Normandy is hovering while the Reaper is looking at it, so maybe it didn't "see" it and then looked the other way when the Normandy was leaving.

Yeah, very convenient, but... another explanation perhaps?

Yes, yes it does.
Shepard running as fast as he can, trying something and failing is better then him having a chat for 10 minutes while sorounded with reapers who magicly ignore a warship right smack in the middle of a lake.

Or it's just simply not the task of this reaper-type to shoot at vessels of that size.

Dreadnaught-reapers shoot down anything that's bigger than a shuttle, this type just dezimates organics, ground-vehicles and smaller aircrafts.
After all BioWare designed the reapers to be efficient at wiping out civilizations. Certain machines for certain tasks. Who knows.

Hahaha were so stupid we want an explanation for the odd extermination plan of the reapers. If they always do it like that I can see why they only do it once every 50 000 years or so.
It probably takes 40 000 years to go to every planet enter the atmosphere shoot at random moving stuff till all movement stops and then go to the next. While letting ships there too lazy to shoot at come and go.

But there is hope ppl! As soon as we try to get off earth we have to fight the reaper border patrol trying to prevent all and any ships from leaving earth!

Yay I win!

Still the game does poor at making it all feel threatening. No wander I could opt to say I would stay on earth.

I do believe I've seen these Destroyers attack Cruisers.

Reaper IFF + Normandy Stealth Systems. The Reapers are machines, they don't have "Eyes", they have sensors. They probably will realize, albeit too late, the Normandy has a Reaper IFF.

I fear that people would flock to BSN to complain if Mass Effect 3 ended within the first 20 mins of the game, because the Reapers destroyed the Normandy.

Sometimes, game mechanics have to come in front of "established lore".

Except that there were atleast a dozen other ways to handle it. What if Reapers hadn't attacked at the beginning? What if they were still caught in the space fighting Alliance vessels? What if that 1 particular Reaper wasn't there but the nearest one was some miles away? And going bit more extreme Normandy might be able to withstand some Reaper laser with all the new armor and shields maybe being able to escape or crashlanding some distance away?

Did we really need to see the kid (honestly no one else mattered) get blown up right before our eyes? It could have been so that Normandy and shuttle go different directions and then you see the shuttles blown up.
