But it's a step in the right direction.

I can't wait until BioWare innovates once again and creates a Cinematic Immersion mode.

Don't even make it a mode, just make it mandatory.

RPG mode. This is the full game. Anything is just a mode to cater to those who don't and/or cannot appreciate all the options the devs put into this game (not saying this is bad, mind you- it's just a way to boost sales through increased accessibility). Or perhaps in the case of Action mode, those who've been through the game many times and are just doing playthroughs for Achievements, etc. But I'll never reach that point personally. And yes, as several people noted, *there is no singular canon*, and Action mode's story should not be misinterpreted that way.

And to the above post... mandatory Story mode without combat? Umm, NO. I support limited modes- Story, Action mode, and the like as long as it *doesn't* take away the other options. Mass Effect becoming the Western equivalent of a visual novel would be beyond ridiculous.

RPG with hardest difficulty possible (in ME1 & 2 Insanity was locked on first playtrough, dont know about ME3) I feel that combat mode just takes away content & features from the game and story is basically playing on "casual difficulty" ? or is there some diffrence between story & rpg mode ?

Action mode: all this role playing stuff is confusing but its good to see mass effect becoming more like MW3 and catering to the COD crowd

By golly, there should be a mode that skips the combat completely. Conversations only! Who's with me?

Agreed - there are YouTube videos of playthroughs - won't it be awesome when what you actually buy is just like that?

Won't even need to buy a console, you can just watch it on BluRay.

It's obviously a no brainer for the choice of Role-Player option. Only noobs to the ME series may choose the others or maybe existing ME fans may intentionally go for the other 2 options for the sake of curiousity. But realistically Role-Playing is the BEST exepeirence for story and combat

RPG for sure, I'll probably give the other modes a whirl down the line.

Something that concerns me about action is depending on how the auto dialog works, people might think that is canon, or use the choices that it makes to support paragon/renegade arguments.

I've tried all three. Action makes you a bit more aware of Bioware's love of cutscenes. It feels odd having no say in a conversation. Story mode was too easy to the point of making combat boring. RPG mode is the best mode, imo.

RPG mode obviously, on Insanity.

I could possibly consider the story mode if I just wanted to make a quick run to see a different outcome (kind of like what I did in DAO and DA2 sometimes with the "killallhostiles" command).

I kind of liked Story mode, only because I felt like the baddest of bad-asses! But it was also way too easy so...RPG mode for me.
