They'll never add local MP support. EA and other big companies want to control everything these days. It's a form of DRM as well as planned obsolescence. EA will turn those servers off soon like they always do and force you to buy the next game. They don't want people to have local MP or dedicated servers like we had in the past or else we might play the same game for 5 years and never upgrade.

And once they turn off the servers, no one will have the 4000 EMS needed for the "best" ending again. :crying:

You can't just add split screen. The engine of the game is optimized for one player, and even then on consoles it runs at 30fps. You bring in a second player and it has to render everything twice, thus potentially crippling the system. So no split screen isn't BW/EA trying to screw you over, it's impossible on a technical level as the modified Unreal engine they use was never designed for it.

I know adding those features is not a simple matter, but its the dividing line in demonstrating how much or how little BioWare care's about their fan base even the minorities. There have been so many things about this game that have really left a bad taste in my mouth. I have not picked it up since release, and I suspect I won't very often unless some update occurs that makes me feel they put time into completing and polishing things in the campaign and add local support.

It's sad, really, I have not supported MP in it's current form, and because of that I've even avoided recommending sales to friends because there is no way to LAN. It's a sad state for the industry. I'll continue to cherish this last era of good games as this trend for things to come looks abyssmal.

Meanwhile, names updated. An ounce of hope is more than none.

I have hhhhhorribly sssslooowww internet where I live, so it would be absolutely mathematical if I can play offline.I mean, I paid 60 bucks for the whole game.I should be able to play the whole game.I have no hate for Mass Effect 3 or Bioware ,but the decision to put the whole multiplayer on a EA server seemed like a very short sighted move to me.So yeah, put my name up there too.peace.

I don't care if it's unlikely, this is something that I'd LOVE to have and would definitely pay for!

I always prefer gaming with someone in the room, the experience is always way more fun if the person is actually there. Social experience is not dead.

...Plus, if I'm playing with a friend I have a much higher chance of not being harassed or insulted. At least, not in a hostile way. :)

I do hope that is true.  Hence why I keep speaking up for them to add it.

@Descedent.  I'm grouping everyone together for now just to make sure we get the point across.  I personally want LAN over split screen, but I'd be ecstatic with either if it meant playing it.  Plus splitscreen really wouldn't benefit the PC crew.

You know, I actually dislike this generalization (and not sure whether gamers or developers made this the norm, but I don't like it). It would be easier than ever to have splitscreen on a PC these days, what with larger monitors or TVs connected, ease of adding extra input devices and generally more powerful processors than their console counterparts. I remember playing splitscreen games twenty years ago when none of these things were true, and had tonnes of fun doing it. Wacky Wheels, One Must Fall, Need for Speed, it was great. That's part of the reason I do so much console gaming these days : I can sit down by my buddies and actually hang out, not sit in a completely different room and yell back and forth or talk over a headset...

I'm glad people are still finding this thread. :)

@Tallin, I agree with you. Two things missing in this generation of games are Ownership and Social Support. It is frustrating for developers offer less quality in a product by removing features now than in days past.

I'm seeing more rumors of DLC which yet again is MP only. Still saddening. Bioware you can gladly have my money and time for MP once I can play it offline until then... not one penny, not one second invested.

Too few games with local Co-op. I would actually purchase a copy of this on Xbox if it came to pass.

Yes, I support this. Many of my friends aren't interested in the game or MP but there is a potential. But I can imagine it'd happen in the future when EA servers will be shut down.

Shouldn't this thread be moved into Multiplayer section?

Agreed! Half the reason I play the Gears of War series more than the Mass Effect Series is because I cannot play Multiplayer [In Mass Effect 3]! I want to be able to do whatever I want in a game, not have to play with people who don't play because I'm a Salarian Engineer :( I would have all ME3 DLC's if this was the case!
