Right before the release of ME2.
Come on, you've been around.

since the fact that the ones who whine have nothing better to do than demand that others buy a pc to play the game on.....

must be nice to have mommy and daddy buy something like that for them

Glad I found this thread, as I was accused of necroing another.

I have my concerns for this game after playing the demo yesterday. It seems to me that many people share my concerns and that is a huge relief. Here are my complaints:

The games sound is possibly it's greatest implementation, but its visuals in terms of character models and environments are very much more of the same. I put in ME2 and the graphics are fundamentally identical. The only point I would like to address is the lighting in the game has been very much improved.

As for combat, the melee was the only aspect with sound results. Aiming, pop-shooting, and AI contribution during combat were not impressive. I don't think I had as much difficulty taking down an enemy in ME1 or ME2 Insanity difficulty as I did with the demo on Normal difficulty. The demo just wreaked of poor game mechanics.

I, as well as all other ME fans have been waiting for this game for nearly 3 years. And after putting money down for a pre-order it better be more than just a regurgitation with better lighting.

No. The demo was not put together well. Sorry if I repeated something already posted, but I had to get that off my chest so to speak.

I stopped coming here awhile ago because this place is mainly filled with people whining. The only reason I'm here now is because so much pre-release news is here but once the game is out, I'll go back to ignoring this site. The bad thing is that there is occasionally really good threads but it's drowned out by the constant whining over miniscule things.

I thought the demo was actually great...No really. I'm starting to think if I should even come here anymore because I know that what I played was good, and I want this game still. Does everyone really think the demo was THAT BAD? Or is it just silly nitpicking?

Loved the demo personally, both the SP and MP.

+1 positiveness.

There are people who are happy with the demo but, unlike the haters, they don't go around making a dozen of threads.

Every three weeks prior to a release (any release, really) is like a nasty fine day in an asylum. Secretly, deep inside you gotta love it. :)

Well then stop moaning about the moaning and readdress the balance. If you love the demo, let everybody know why.

Disagree completely. I'm in the middle of a ME2 playthrough. I played the game before playing the demo last night and afterwards, and there was an enormous difference in standard with the ME3 graphics being far superior.

Are you playing on a decent tv?

ME3's graphics are based on the PS3 version on ME2. So for those who own it on the PS3 it wouldn't look that much different; but for Xbox users like me I appreciate the improvements.

I wouldn't say I hate the demo. There were some things I really liked. There were just some things that worried me as someone who has foamed at the mouth for the series since the first pics and videos came out for ME1. Remember the one with Casey Hudson showing off the use of "Dark Energy" for powers and the dialogue system? After playing the demo I'm just concerned they have tried too hard to please everyone and it will actually disappoint those of us who have been here since the beginning. I'm fine with the combat, it's fun but I've always played the series so that I can be Shep and find out what happens next. The demo was a little too much flash and not quite enough substance for me.And I do want a high rez texture pack for PC on live. When the Normandy flies to the rescue the profile shot of the name just kills it for me, and I'm not even a graphics junkie.

I completely think everyone is entitled to their opinion and they can like or not like a game/demo/franchise, etc. No game is for everybody. I myself like shooters but hate CoD because I feel it's the same game rehashed again and again for greed. They make a billion dollars but don't invest any of it to innovate the genre. I love RPGs (action RPGs especially like ME) but didn't much care for Skyrim. It's beautiful but got tiresome since the combat is boring and stale IMO.

These are my opinions. Millions of people love those games and I don't judge them for doing so. What I don't do is spend hours of my day going to Skyrim or CoD message boards and RAGE about how much I hate their game. I didn't like them, so I moved on to something else I do like. I don't understand why people who claim to hate something have to waste precious time on this Earth posting dozens of hateful comments and starting arguments with people who are genuinely excited about it.

By all means, post your comments, concerns, likes and dislikes, or email them to BioWare or something so they have your feedback for future games, and move on. Beating your head against a wall over something you claim to hate seems like a pointless way to spend your life. But again, that's just my opinion.

Welcome to the pre-release of a Bioware game. It's been this way ever since the start of the old forums. Wait until the game releases. Then it gets even worse.

As a UK based PS3 owner, I’m still waiting for the demo to drop but I enjoy reading the thoughts of those who have already played, regardless of their position. Just as an aside, if you want to see this place at its very worst, go visit some of our dedicated character threads.

Hey, are we related!?

Dad?

Son! *Sniff sniff* :crying: I must have something stuck in my eye! :lol:

I...but...I...oh my...I love you dad *sobs*!

Are you the 9641st child? Mr. Fandango sure has been busy..

Alright so this is my first post here. I joined some months ago when I got ME2 but hardly visited until the past couple of weeks, lurking in anticipation of ME3. I definitely noticed the storm getting bigger as more people got their hands on the demo. And yeah, definitely seemed like negative place but like people have said, the people with complaints are definitely going to voice them, especially on the internet. The squeaky wheel gets the oil? (Probably not, with this amount of wheels..)

Anyways, I guess I'm pretty mellow about stuff and I completely enjoyed the demo. I only noticed certain things after reading about them here. To me, the graphics are fine and I got used to the gameplay quickly. If they're improved in the full game, even better. I definitely noticed Anderson's run though, lol, it's giggleworthy I guess~

I'm not coming into this as a new player though, so I'm lacking that perspective. I haven't played the Dragon Age games though, and I tried the demo for DA2. I wanted to like it for it's similar dialog system but.. I just couldn't enjoy the combat. I hear the first one is better though. Anywaaays, thanks for hearing me out.

I think it's a matter of age. I notice a lot of younger fans settling for gaps in Bioware's writing whereas older fans are less forgiving. I'm 25 and in the business of writing stories. I can't really get around the way Bioware chose to handle the entire intro level, because I can't picture a group of grown men sitting around a table and looking at what's quite frankly a rather childish script and go "this works."

What I can imagine them doing is sitting around that same script and saying "It's horrible, but **** it, we'll cash big anyway."

Which is probably what happened.

There's always people whining about demos.
The people whining even whined about the ME2 demo because they didn't realize the full game was released because they were on BSN whining

This is just how BSN rolls. It will get alot worse after the game ships, giant essays on why ME3 isn't an RPG, complaints about boob size, something some guy said in the game doesn't make sense, PC gamers feel cheated, PS3 gamers feel cheated, too much fan service, not enough fan service, not enough sex scenes, didn't get fries with their burger, the political situation in Peru.....It will be wall to wall whining for weeks if not months. Positive stuff will be kept to one or two threads so it looks like theres more people unhappy than happy.

Of course you're not going to approve of the writing if you're a writer...its a VIDEO GAME. Uncharted 3's story is trash, but it still is a great game with amazing direction.

No offense, but 25 is still pretty young for gaming and certainly for writing. I'm only saying this because of the context you brought it up in and not because I'm trying to be some pretentious dick or something. Particularly with writing... you have a long way to go and a lot of life to live.
