Umm, was it just me or did Shep have a dramatic loss of speed, compared to both ME1 & ME2, when not using the sprint button?

Yes it was really off, the running animations were just plain bad, anderson looks like he's floating and i spent most of the demo looking at my feet to remind me i was moving

I'm glad his speed is slowed downed compared to what we were seeing in earlier builds. He's still fast, so I don't see the problem.

It seemed very slow, yes.

It was a bit slower but you could run much greater distances without getting fatigued. Actually has anyone had Shep get fatigued or have they removed that entirely. I think that I prefered the higher speed over short distance ov ME1 and 2.

Great just wait until all the trolls start complaining about how you don't get tired from running.

Yea, he/she moves slow indeed. I think it's because he/she gained weight? :P

Hm, I actually liked the new running animation, for me it seemed more dynamic. But that compared to his/her speed was indeed a bit strange first, 'twas easy to get used to it though.

It's annoying. Controlling Shepard in sprint is clumsy and awkward.

I agree. For all the increase to combat pacing out of combat movement felt awkward and slow. Everything from the one button for everything control scheme to sheps movement speed.

The camera should be automatic during sprint.

That is why I am sticking to the Vanguard class. Less clumsy sprinting.

I agree. Storm has gone from a tactical ability to something you mash down just so you don't move so damn slow.

Anderson doesn't even look like Anderson from ME1 or ME2. In fact if the VA wasn't in the game and Shep hadn't called out to him, I wouldn't have known that was Anderson. His skin color is wrong, his facial structure looks like it was blown up and then had reconstructive facial surgery but without a picture to show people what he looked like previously.

As for movement speed, it was crap and the sprinting... don't get me started.

Seconding this. For a while I was positive I had walk toggled on.

For once i have to agree, shepard handles like a semi truck, what the hell happand between ME2 and ME3 here?

I really hope it's just a unpolished demo issue cause the run was slow and jerky(i just gave up and walked after awhile), pretty much everything was jerky and the animation seemed choppy (more then a few mouths didn't move during comversations for instance, wrex especialy)

Didn't help i just played the infinitly more polished binary domain before me3, so maybe the lack of quality in ME3 was just enhanced cause of that, whatever the cause i'm seriously unimpressed bioware.

Possibly removed. But couldn't really tell since the 2 set designs only allowed for a full sprint for half a second before you ran into some kind of obstacle.

I would even be able to handle moving so much slower if it actually felt like normal movement but Shepard just floats. The upper body doesn't seem to work in concert with the legs, the slight jostle of the camera was gone, and it just didn't feel like the game was reacting immediately to my inputs. The sideways and backwards motion looked right and were much faster than moving forward, so this situation baffles me. I mean, if you just watch Anderson sprint, you can plainly see that it doesn't look right.
I really hope that this is either something that was removed to keep the demo under the cap, or it's something that can be addressed with a patch because I simply can't believe that Bioware considered this acceptable. It's really the only major gripe I have coming out of the demo.

I don't know so much about speed but the animation was quite bad...
Like the unlimited sprint tho.

He did seem very slow. Out of place with how much faster the game is. Animation was odd looking also.

The sprint is so disorienting and hard to handle that I think I'm going to have to walk all the time in ME3. Which sucks because it is also very slow.

And whoever mentioned the floating, I definitely noticed that too. Felt like Shepard was gliding over the ground the whole time in the Earth mission. Didn't notice it so much in the second one though.

The issue is, the best way to move in ME3 is to hold sprint until you need to turn, stop and turn in the direction, and hold sprint again until you need to turn.

It's...probably the most idiotic thing about the game right now. And like DA2 I doubt anything will change from the demo to retail, except maybe really huge boobs will be reduced.

Quirkiness around sprinting and moving camera is because
Resident Evil 4 > Gears of War > Mass Effect put the sprint
button in the wrong place on the controller.

Developers keep copying the copy of the copy of a "standard"
control scheme that was flawed to begin with. And now they
don't want to screw with your precious muscle memory, so they
continue to copy the copy til someone gets a clue and then says :

Screw your muscle memory. This new scheme is much better.
I don't care what game you just got finished playing.
These are the best controls for OUR game. Train your muscles
to memorize THIS.

Yeah, I could even see past the reduction is speed if it didn't feel like I was floating instead of walking/running.

I don't really follow.  And if you're saying it's a matter of controls, well that doesn't apply in my case since I play on the PC.  The controls for basic movements haven't change from ME2 and yet this is looks way worse.

Shep's running animation reminds me of the husk run animation. It's goofy.
