Hey, my friend and I have been trying to play multiplayer, but whenever either one of us creates then game and invites the other, a message is always brought up: "Unable to connect to friends game"

My friend was play multiplayer in a private game with someone else yesterday, so it can't be his computers fault.
It can't be my firewall, because I can join any other public multiplayer game.

Has anyone else experienced this? Please help me solve this annoying problem.

Thanks in advance.

Also cannot play with my friend. We can join other games but if one of us tries hosting either a private or open game the other can't connect.

Update- Third friend hosting the game let's the other friend join but I can't still so I guess it's just me. I've forwarded ports, have DMZ on, router firewall is off, and tried with personal firewall off but still nothing.

2nd update- Well looks like it's my belkin router doing it so now to see what I can turn on/off on it to fix it.

My friend and I played a good few hours together last night, but tonight we can't seem to connect to each others' games. We even had another friend we could both connect to but not if the either person was connected.

Having same problem. Can't play with friends. Does anyone know if this is a game problem or hardware on our end? not sure if I need to tweak my router settings.

If I do quick search it says I lost connection to the game and if I join a friends game it says I'm unable to connect to their game. I've made sure that its not being blocked by windows firewalls or the router firewalls. I've tried DMZ. I've opened the ports outlined in the Demo's readme file. I've opened the ports outlined here: http://social.biowar...3/index/9271235 I've enabled upnp. I've tried everything. I've tried restarting the router from my browser and the only way I can join my friends game is by manually pulling out the power to my router and plugging it back in. This is the stupidest problem I've ever faced. WHAT IS CAUSING THIS? EA support still hasn't responded to my ticket I submitted >24hours ago. This is a major problem, looks like I'm not preordering collectors edition till I see a fix.

We can join the same together, if we are NOT the host.
Private game or public game when one of us hosts, Unable to join friend game.
This is very annoying.

"Additional info"

Battlefield 3. Me and my friend can play everything together. Except Co-op's . Then we got the sa,e annoying ,message, "Unable to join friend game"

Has any1 any idea what the problem could be?

Well I hooked my modem directly to the computer and it allowed me to connect to my friends. Then I added the belkin again and somehow I can still connect to one of them but not the other (normally can't connect to him though anyway).

All the settings that I previously had are still in effect so I have no clue why it decided to work. This is annoying since I can't really help and be able to say how to fix this, besides what I already said.

Same issue happening here - but only to a certain friend. Connecting to my other friends games works fine. WHAT COULD CAUSE THIS? Devs please look at this and give us some advice. Any ports needed open or such things?

Thank you!

I'm also having this problem. Two of my friends both created games, but I couldn't connect to them. Neither could they connect to any game I created. But they were able to connect to each others.

However, I am able to join public games.

I've opened up all the ports in the demo's readme, along with the ones mentioned in the thread above. I tried shutting down both my antivirus and windows firewall, didn't help.

I don't have any other games on Origin so can't test them.

A fix would be nice! Please!

So... University Student here. Not allowed to mess with the router. Hell, they won't even tell us where the routers are in the buildings. Any solutions besides router ones come up?

It's a darn shame that I can't connect with my friends because I'm here getting an education. Some of the time. :P

Having the same trouble. Only we are leaving in different counties. The game doesn't have anything against that, i hope?
I can connect to anyones else game except his, pretty darn disappointing.

Getting the same issue. Two of my friends living in the UK, can join each others games. But I always get the unable to connect message. And if I host, neither of them can join.

We can all join public ones no problem.

Well.. I had the same problem, and since noone else found a solution, i decided to look into it.

apparantly the game uses the ports 59669 and 3659, so after opening thoose two ports the game worked and my friend could join me. Funny enough i was able to connect to other players, but just not with this one friend, so why it didn't have problem with the ports with the other players is a mystery in my world.

But. as i mentioned my solution is to open the two ports in your firewall and it should solve the problem.

Cheers

I just took another look at my wireshark output, apparantly the 59669 port is not nessesary to open as it looks like it changes, however the 3659 looks like being static.

A little research shows that 3659 is also being used by some other online games, so my guess would be that this one port should be enough

Tried opening both the ports you suggested and didn't work for me. :/ Hoping this is just a demo fluke, we'll see.

Both me and my friend opened the port(s) you suggested to no avail.  Neither one of us is using a wireless connection.

@Kwoods88

hmm, i'll try to see if something else comes up when i try it today, eventually, you can try and download wireshark, and filter it to your friends IP address (public IP) and then see what ports the packages tries to connect to and then open them

Did you open for the ports in the router to?

Correction, the port 56536 has to be open, and not  59669 as i wrote earlier.
from the looks of it, it tries to initiate the connection on 56536 and 3659 and after that changes to another port (in my case that port was the 59669 which lead me to believe it used this port in the initial connection to)

Try opening port 56536 and 3659 on you pc firewall and redirect it to you IP in the router firewall.. that should do the trick.

Yesterday I could host games fine, but now I can't. Also, when I tried to invite friends to join me, and me to join them it didn't work. That sort of defeats the purpose of multiplayer for me.  It would be more fun to play with friends.

I have not changed any settings on the router when this problem occured. So opening ports won't do a thing.  Just expose my network to attacks.
