Vanguard probably is the fastest at getting around and killing everything in his path, but that doesn't always benefit the team alot. e.g an infiltrator can sneak around and take out mission-objective-targets and stealth-resurrect, while just about any class (except vanguard!) can provide ranged support (and then theres the stasis bubble, energy drain, new and improved throw - you name it, I haven't tried it all yet). What I find the vanguard good for in silver/gold, is to charge around speeding up the groups progression (and draw ALOT of fire so the squishies have an easier time, i.e Tank) in the 7-8 first waves, and after that he needs to play 100% as a team guard, basically - tanking and making sure no Phantom gets close to anyone who can't handle it; or just charging around to whoever is in need of aid. All-the-while avoiding turrets and atlas' like the plague.
Vanguards are extremely fast paced. Charge-Shoot-Melee-roll-Shoot-Melee-Charge-Shoot-Melee -- all the while looking out for new targets and new spots to position yourself, and if you can't do a roll every 1.5 seconds, and a charge to the correct location every 4 seconds, and kill 2 enemies between each charge; then you are dead (within the next second
Having played vanguard on insanity in ME2, it is pretty much routine. But so far turrets give me alot of headache. Atlas' I have to avoid (or shoot down with that rocket launcher), and Phantoms can't be killed by heavy melee-attack, nor can he engage more than one phantom alone.. (That doesn't work reliably
Just about every other class is able to keep up with a vanguard in score. Tho' I don't think anyone can keep up with his actual killrate/dps once he starts charging about.
I think every class, so far in the demo, is OP compared to what we are used to (from mass effect 1 and 2). Just about every class has gotten better (as far as I can tell), across the board, and it is ALOT of fun! Every class is hands-on combat crazy and can work miracles with such a seemingly small toolset of only 3 active abilities.

You also have to consider that we have only faced one type of enemy so it is possible Vanguards won't be as effective in the full game.
At any rate everyone gets the same exp at the end so I don't see it as much of a big deal.

no, because without some backup (i.e. a decent squad) vanguards are suicidal. Fun, but suicidal. With a good group, though, they are an unstoppable force.
Hehe....that's me. All I need are a good soldier and/or sentinel to cover me long range and I hop around blowing **** up. Very risk/reward as you do need revived from time to time.
Good thing kill experience is shared!!!!
I only carry a souped up shotgun for maximum cooldown. I am going to max out nova and charge soon. It is quite deadly.

Not at all. I play as a Vanguard myself, and though it does seem like they're justing running up to guys and taking kills, the Vanguard is also risking their lives doing so. As I Vanguard, I probably go down most out of all my teammates because I am always charging into battle with a shotgun. You're going to need some support from your team if one who plays as a Vanguard is going to make it out in one piece. Here is for my fellow Vanguards. Be a Drell! They're godly amazing out close range!
Yes, it is very risk/reward. You do die a bunch until you really get the hang of it.
I tell you what, I am on the PC and I COULD NOT play this class without my gaming mouse. I have logitech G700 and I can map hotkeys to the side buttons. I just whip around the battlefield.
By the way...I am PSUHammer online (PC).

Engineers are also a good assistance for a vanguard. They can stay with them and weaken enemies with all of their gismos!
The drones are clutch, for sure.
The only enemy that I have issues with (aside from the Atlas) is the shield holders. You have to stun them and hope for a few good shots.

Quick side question, can I get the Male/Female characters from Recruit packs, or do I need the Veteran packs for that too?
