The Claymore - why would anyone use it?

Ok, as some of you know the Claymore in ME2 was a special weapon. Compared to the other shotguns it was mediocre to say the least, but the reload glitch mechanic allowed it to take its rightful place as king of all shotguns. After all it was supposed to be the best shotgun considering you dropped a whole weapon class in order to have it as a vanguard.

I unlocked the weapon in ME3 multiplayer and I'm very disappointed, to put it mildly. It's actually worse than in ME2 without reload glitching. I couldn't believe it at first, but the new mechanic for power recharge makes the Claymore absolutely useless. And being heavy is not the only bad thing about it. Compared to Katana, Claymore adds 100% recharge time on my powers, which means you have a single shot weapon with 2 seconds reload time AND you can't use your powers as often. Well, if that's not a recipe for disaster, I don't know what is. Yeah, the damage of it is high and the sound of it is amazing, but why would anyone choose this weapon over the Katana, which, provided you can aim is miles better - it has 5 rounds in a mag, decent rate of fire, very good damage AND it's lightweight. The Claymore has 1 round, 2 seconds reload time during which you can't run and a huge weight which prevents you from using your biotics effectively.

So yeah, Bioware totally messed up 1 of the most exciting ME2 weapons - it is definitely not deserving of the term Krogan shotgun.

For the record, I even put 2 upgrades on it - an accuracy and damage upgrade. The fact you can take out a Phantom in 1 shot at close range does not make up for the countless instances where you'll wish you had the katana and charge twice as often.

Disappointed. :crying:

Please, if a Dev reads this, do something about the Claymore for balance's sake. You can't have a slow firing high damage weapon that also prevents you from using powers, it's the ultimate mockery.

UPDATED: Here are 2 gameplay videos that help you judge the Katana vs Claymore shotguns. Note the reload time of charge and time taken to reload the weapon in the Claymore video.

Let me also point out I dont think there is anyone out there that has a level 10 claymore either. Has anyone looked to what leveling the claymore has. All I know is my level 3 claymore is +2% cooldown on my human vanguard.

Has anyone tried it on a weapon damage spec'd infiltrator? I hear it's pretty nuts :) And do not forget when you use a soldiers adrenaline rush ability your weapon gets automatically reloaded. In the right hands/build the claymore is mental.

By the way, where I can see these leveling affects? I personaly don't know what my leveling did to my Avenger.

I have a level X Claymore and I can absolutely testify on Bryan's behalf. I really feel there's just no better weapon on a human Infiltrator. It's brutal.

I have to admit I had to check to see what I wrote, but yes it is awesome
