Also does anyone know if a krogan's health regenerates?

It was really satisfying to unload the Claymore into someone's face at point-blank range, but the cooldown penalty is just too much.

It doesn't. But that's fine, they got huge shields and can take quite the beating. Oh and they can't roll. But why roll when you can charge!?

It needs a patch. Ridicoulously slow RoF AND weight make it inferior to pretty much any other shotgun.
It might be viable to fool around with it on low difficulty, but on Insanity it will be clearly worse than other shotguns. Too bad, it is my favourite ME2 weapon, easily.

Knowing me and assuming knowing you, we will find a way to make the Claymore competitive out of nostalgia alone.

And if it's just a lethal joke character, this MP will know the might of the Claymore and tremble before its name.

I always rolled with the Scimitar anyways. Cryo ammo of course.

Can Shepard be a Krogan Sentinel? :D The weapon will have the same stats in single player - there will be no point for Shepard to use it unless something changes. It's not only about COOP mode, it's about the gun as it is in the game. Right now it's useless.

I want to believe that Shepard has starter stats and beyond are far more superior than what we can get in Multiplay.

Eric in the basic cooldown thread said Shepard will be able to carry more weapons for the same cooldown bonuses that characters in the multiplayer would achieve.

So yes with Shepard you should get a higher cooldown bonus with heavier weapons than in multiplayer.

I want Wrex's Claymore... Y'know, the one that the female Krogan uses to shoot two Cerberus troopers without reloading? >.<

This coming from you (one of the best Vanguard players on this board), is indeed troubling. How is the reload-canceling thing working, btw?

I never even used the Claymore in ME2. It was practically useless when I got the M-76 Revenant or the M-98 Widow. If all it is in co-op is something dragging me and slowing me down wherever I go, I'd rather leave it on the side.

Somehow as a engineer using a claymore I got to wave 10 with 2 others without dying, either that was luck or the claymore has its times of usefulness.

I think once you get the piercing mod for the Claymore (allowing it to punch through walls and enemies), it will **** everything.

Still holding off final judgment. Not the first time the community has been proven wrong.

And hey for people that think the game is too easy I don't really see the problem giving yourself a challenge.

Here, I recorded two rounds of multiplayer - 1 with Katana, 1 with Claymore on the same map but with different teams.

Katana gameplay

Claymore gameplay

You can clearly see from the cooldown timers alone that the Claymore is not meant for a charging vanguard (or for a vanguard using any powers whatsoever). Yeah, it is devastating close range and if you make your shots count you'll kill lots of mooks. However, if caught in an unpredictable situation and your survival depends on power use and/or killing a few mooks quickly, Claymore fails big time. The long reload also doesn't allow you to run while doing it, so you're stuck with a low movement speed on top of being unable to shoot...

The katana gameplay is more exciting, you can zip around and take full advantage of the powers which do as much damage as the weapons. You have great crowd control in terms of Nova without sacrificing much survivability.

With Claymore on the other hand positioning and clever use of cover is paramount. Missing shots is very punishing, especially on higher difficulties where enemies kill you much more quickly. So yeah, the shotgun doesn't live up to my expectations unfortunately. <_<

I just wish I could unlock another shotgun. I've had the Katana forever now. Shame though to see the Claymore suck.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still use it just for the awesome sound it makes. It's like firing a dreadnought cannon. And you can see I did ok with it - 75+ kills, 50k score. But it's just inferior to the other shotguns and a vanguard wielding the Claymore doesn't play like a vanguard anymore. Plays like a soldier with occasional charge... And that makes me sad.

Let me play devil's advocate. It works ok for a Krogan Solider speced to rely on weapons to do most of their killing. A Krogan headbutt followed by a Claymore blast to the face can kill anything short of a fully shielded Atlas. I managed to kill 3 Phantoms in quick succession using the quick Krogan melee attack (the headbutt) followed by a shotgun blast at extremely close quarters.

I don't think the Claymore is practical in any other capacity since it is so heavy and is only marginally more powerful than a Katana or Scimitar.

What a lot of people fail to realize is that once you unlock you actually only get the neutered version.
You have to gain it multiple times, each time you will get a better version.
Same goes for modifications, each time you unlock the same mod it upgrades the old one slightly.
