for the most part heavy melee seemed useless ,for a couple of reasons .

the animation of the attack is rather awesome, but that's it's only benefit and also it's disaadvantage.

enemies move rather fast , the wined up for the animation is too long for it to be effective for fast moving eneimes it's pretty useless because 9/10 at times enemies completely side step the attack due to the long wind up plus after having done the attack it's rather disorientating  to try and readjust the camera to see  were the enemies actually went.

by that time the enemies especially on insanity settings got a lock on you and are blasting away which would lead to a quick death after your trying to get your barrings from the big flash camera tilting heavy melee attack that actually isn't all that heavy an attack.

with a quick tap of the melee button the other melee attack does what seems like about the same damage has a  quick simple animation that is non dissorienting  .

so it basically defeats the purpose of using a heavy melee attack.

also side note captain anderson looked nothing like captain anderson also some of the animations in the cut scenes are bad ,not fluid motions real stiff.

it's a  little late in production to fix the annimation in the cut scenes but i'm suprised testers didn't mention this.

they are horrble.

Heavy melees are a risky move, but if you spend a lot of points upgrading your melee damage they can be deadly. They do take some getting used to, especially against fast moving enemies.

If you're having trouble lining up the move, make sure to have the enemy selected when you start the move, just like you would to target a power at an enemy. Under the hood this will lock the enemy down (stop their movement) and you should hit them.
