I've been having a headache over this since I got the game on the 7th. EA REALLY loves to annoy you, don't they? Guess it's not enough to pay $90 for the Collector's Edition anymore.

1) Change Origin's email ID to match BSN
2) Or change BSN ID to match Origin's email ID
Which of course can't be done user side because the other account's 'email address is already in use.' I've had this issue escalated to their email team, but I've yet to hear anything back since Wednesday (3/7/12) night.

I wonder if EA's going to do anything about it.

Nail on the head. It seems like such a poxy little issue when put in those terms, but that's exactly the problem. Is it so hard to sort?

The only problem on merging accounts might occur if you play SWTOR. Otherwise they should be able to do it.

They don't appear to help you very much. How do we get it done? And will we lose any CE content?Jesse.Reid wrote...
Hmm... it sounds like support doesn't realize that we use Origin accounts to authenticate users here. If you are using an email address to log into this site that account is an Origin account.

As annoying as ME2 not connecting to the servers correctly on startup was, this is far far worse. Hopefully all this misinfomation between BSN and EA (or maybe just between EA and EA Support) gets fixed before ME3 gets any older.

you: Hello, I am trying to register my copy of Mass Effect 3, Collector's Edition, on BioWare's social forum, however it will not let me. I have figured out that the reason for this is because the email I have for my Xbox (bad email; which is 5 years old) is different than my EA/BSN email (goodemail; 2 years old). I would please like assistance to have the accounts merged into my good email. I would also like to express concern in not losing any of my Collector's Edition content.
Biswajeet: Please give me just a moment while I look into this further.
you: Sure, no problem.
Biswajeet: Thank you.
Biswajeet: Thank you for waiting. I'm sorry account merged would not be possible.
Biswajeet: But you can link old account to a new account.
you: Would I lose any data I have on my current save by doing that?
Biswajeet: Yes you might lose some.
Well, that was fun. I wish I could get ahold of the person that fixed you up Artius. I sent an email as well, maybe they'll be more... uhh... competent?

I was going to post this in the thread that I started, but here works just as well.
When I was attempting to get this issue fixed (it still isn't -- I haven't even played my CE copy of ME3 yet), I changed my password for my EA/Origin account (that ME3 is on). Sometime later, I tried to log into TOR -- didn't work. TOR, mind you, not the EA or Origin sites. Once I tried using the new EA/Origin password -- yep, it worked. So, they have essentially implemented a system that links your EA/Origin password, to your log in password for TOR. My guess is that you'd use the same password for Battlefield 3, for example -- assuming it's linked to that account.
Does this have anything to do with the issues people are having? No idea, but it might be.
On another note, is Bioware having any conversations with EA about this issue? I think we're all sort of feeling "hung out to dry," here. It'd be nice to know what (if anything) is being done to resvole the problem. Contacting EA doesn't help, as the Live Chat people end the session immediately upon finding out what you want. So, then you post on the forums, and they tell you to contact Live Chat. Seriously?
I don't know about other people, but I don't have hours on top of more hours to kill, trying to get them to fix an issue that with a bit of planning, should have been prevented in the first place.

"Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts and letting us know about your issue.
I appreciate your interest in the game and assure you to provide the continual support throughout from my end.
Please accept my genuine apology for the way you have been made to feel. We at EA, strive to make our customers have an exceptional experience. Any deviation from this is dealt very critically. Your case definitely merits attention and I assure you my support in getting this sorted out.
I went through your issue. I wish to suggest you that account merge is not possible. Please try to understand it is something that is beyond the reach of my hand.
I wish I could help you in this. Trust me, had it been possible, I would have certainly processed your request.
I humbly ask for your understanding regarding this matter and I apologize for any inconvenience caused to you. "

"I like to inform you that, it is not possible to merge BSN and EA account, but please let me know why you want to merge the accounts, look forward to your reply."
I guess Ankur and Rubul of EA help are going to deny that this is possible, even though Bioware has directed us to the help page informing us to ask EA to do so. I included the link to the help page in my email as well.

So when I log in here, it tells me I can log in using my Origins account, but I can't because it asks for the email address, not the account name, and both accounts use the same email.
Maybe I'm just going crazy, but this seems a lot more convoluted than it needs to be.

Thanks

Jesse did just message me but I am curious if any of you know how long it took to get this process done.

They also recommended calling EA support during business hours in North America as that worked out better for them.
