Isn't the game Gold... which means it is done?

At any rate, not being able to holster my weapon is not a big deal to me. Rolling all around like a Mall Ninja is more irritating to me than not being able to holster :)

That may be fine to you, but to all us that like to take in the surrounding environment (without liiking throught the barrow of a gun) makes the gaming experience memorable.

I support this option being brought back, as it has been in each Mass Effect. So what if its useless? Its the fun, creative freedom that players enjoy!

Obviously this feature is loved, someone went and started a successful thread to bring it back.Image IPB

This is why a post like this exists, why a feature that was seen through Mass Effect 1 and 2, then is removed because of "memory". This is truly unfair to the player(s)  who enjoyed having the freedom of holstering their weapons. Bioware, please... please listen to our pleas!!! please return the holster option an all systems.

Yeah Bioware, overcome, find a way (BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HUMANS DO, HURR!) and give us our damn holsters back!

Yeah, this would be a very grateful implementation, and it'd make exploration better. Please consider it bioware, at least for PC users.

I think it'd be fine if Shep just lowered her gun and the camera unhinged to increase the FOV.

If not...ah, well.

great, no holsetering means its more likely to be even less freedom than mass effect 2...

It's already been explained why this was left out, and I'm willing to bet (or at least, hoping in any case) that that has already been explained in this topic.

Then they should have taken out the useless kinect feature because only a small minority will use that useless mode so it was a waste add that junk and removing weapon holstering. >.<

Not being able to holster my weapon in a combat zone after a conflict is a small price to pay for all the extra stuff I'm getting in this game. Except Kinect, that can go.

Bioware really didn't have to do much to support Kinect though.

Doesn't matter kinect is and will always be a lame gimmick that no one cares about and M$ only wasted money making it.

Here is biowares explanation for why it wont happen

response 1
In combat areas, you have your gun out... in more hub-like areas you don't.

It's unfortunate, but sadly it was needed to claw back a significant chunk of memory. smilie

response 2
It's a runtime memory cost, not a disk space issue. You need those anims for the non-combat areas... so they're going to be on disk regardless.

In order to support exploration in the combat areas, you'd need to have all the anims loaded in memory... so that would be things like the 8-way walks, runs, incline anims, idles, idle twitches, male/female variant overrides, eye noise... etc.

All in all (iirc) it came out to around 2-4MB, which is relatively significant. Also, as you've guessed, yes - I'm referring to the main game (as well as the demo).

Patch it back into the PC. It costs 4 megs of RAM. In consoles, I can see that being an issue. Meanwhile in 8GB PC land...

If holstering have different effect to the gaming (some games actually factored holstering weapons into how NPCs responding to you) then it'd be really useful, and actually added a layer of realism to gameplay.

Or at least a choice in weapon stances would be nice.

But then again, things like that never came to play in previous installment, and every time when a weapon drawn it's in a fighting section, so maybe that's why they choose to omit it.

However, if ME3 using the same game engine and all from ME2, that should be easily amended.

Taking out a feature because one of the consoles doesn't have enough memory seems like a bad excuse to me.

Games are not gonna be bigger or better as long as they are made for the same old consoles.
Get over it.

Well, to be fair, they need that memory for other stuff too. Consoles only have like 256 or 512 MB of RAM (and on PS3 even that's shared with the VGA). It just seems dumb to save 4MB when most PCs have about 1-2GB of memory sitting around doing nothing

I really miss it too. I can't believe they removed it :'(
It's not the first weird gameplay choice Bioware did but I really didn't see this one coming....

It would be a very nice touch. I felt like a jerk aiming my gun at Mordin well before combat even started.

So the reason for cutting it is because it saves some small amount of memory? Of all of the things they could cut instead!

Well then, let the console owners don't have it while we PC retain that feature, for we PC gamers have what could be regarded as muscle cars in comparison...

Memory issue, not monetary.
