I'd much rather have heavy melee and combat roll witch serves the gameplay than a very aesthetic features (witch I don't even use)

So the reason for cutting it is because it saves some small amount of memory? Of all of the things they could cut instead!
I said memory, not money. But it's still no damn excuse. You're telling me that they couldn't find something else to cut? That's BS.

get use to the fact that us console players rule the video game industry and even the last of the pc only developers Blizzard will eventually have to understand that as well .

I wholeheartedly support this thread too, but it's a fact that the consoles make for a significant portion of the gaming market and until the next gen consoles appear it is very likely that some PC games will be "hobbled" to match the existing ones. If I'm being totally honest though, I hardly ever holster my weapon except for grabbing screen shots or checking over how a shep build looks during play. I know that shep looks a bit stupid with his/her gun held out all the time, but at least in "combat ready mode" he/she moves faster (in ME2) and that's why I don't always holster. So I can live with its omission but I know that I'll miss it just by knowing that its not there anymore. But don't hold your breaths over its re-inclusion - the game has gone gold and we'd have to wait for the first patch at the earliest to see it back.

I agree with the Op. Must be nice to point your gun in the face of your LI when holding your mouse over çne of the more romantic options...like... 'Hey Liara! Let's kiss!' *several seconds latorrrr* 'Ow, damn, Shepard, get your gun out of my eye!' XD
The LI's line "Is that your gun pressing into me or you just happy to see me?" won't really work anymore will it?!

Doesn't mean you don't optimize for each platform strengths and weaknesses. Look at Eidos Montreal and how they handled Deus ex:HR or Battlefield 3 or The Witcher (who is porting to console).CerberusSoldier wrote...

Also I'm wondering what's eating so much memory, there have been others who have said that better looking games with loads of animations are available on the console.

It does not need to be in the game they clearly told you that you holster your weapon after combat is finished .

BF 3 is a piece of sh*t on consoles . I am glad they worked on combat than this stupid holster your weapon . never in gears do you see Marcus and crew holster their lancers it always in front ready for combat . Bioware has said it is holstered after combat which is good enough

Oh they worked on it, make no mistake. Very likely the animation and the mechanics for it are still in.CerberusSoldier wrote...

The only issue is that having both the weapon drawn and weapon holstered animations loaded in memory is another 2-4 mb they couldn't spare.
It's something they probably cut out pretty late and has very little to do with how much time the spend on combat.

I want better game play and if cutting it makes for better game play then I am all for it . for too long this studio has gotten a pass on the ME game play and combat and its time they start making better game play combat

And I don't think gamers should have to "compromise" in the sense that, you are paying your money and you should be 100% satisfied with the product. Judging by the support and responses in this thread, it was important to a lot of people.

It has little to do with actual better gameplay, but rather with memory management and optimization.CerberusSoldier wrote...

I honestly don't think that combat animation and gameplay all of a sudden push the memory over the top.
EDIT: I'd be okay with it not coming back if we got a proper FOV, but I doubt we'd get that as well.

It REALLY annoys me as well. The combat levels can be very lengthy, so I am gong to have to run around the whole time now, with my gun drawn, and look like an idiot. It takes a a part of the game away that allowed me to get more immersed. This is just sad, that a company like BioWare could take something out, leave a bad taste in peoples mouth, in what could be the last ME game.
The sad thing, it coudl be fixed, there are always pre game patches that need to be installed, put it back in BioWare, put it back in.

Seems like Bioware dropped he ball here, I know two people that are going to kill their pre-order because of this. They wil get the game I am sure, but they will buy it used most likely. Why are they moving backwards now? Why remove something that was in there before?
