I used it frequently. Though it isn't a deal breaker. It is a control issue. My character, I decide when he pulls hid weapon.

What if somehow I run out of ammo. It looks even more idiotic when you're out of ammo and running around with an empty gun pointed straight ahead. Bad move to take this out.

This exactly. I'm going to miss it for sure.

I know I read the BW response about memory limitations, but I can only imagine the exclusion of the holster also indicates that there will be very limited gameplay oportunities when you aren't in combat (i.e. no time to holster), hate it or love it.

I would like the ability to holster [or unholster] a weapon whenever I want. Honestly I probably won't lose sleep over it but if I want to do either action for RP reasons I should be allowed to ....

Quite a few people apparently.

It does get rather silly that Shepard doesn't at least have a more relaxed pose, but just keeps point that gun straight ahead.

Which makes this issue even worse because it makes Shepard really look like an idiot, if you're not going to give us holstering at least give us a way for Shepard to lower her weapons when not actually shooting at something.

Judging by the squadmates this should be even easier for them to implement because the animations for it are already loaded into the RAM memory in the combat zones but apparently only your squadmates get to use them.

Though I still maintain that actually holstering the weapons would be far better since it also allows for better camera angles and the ability to take screenshots or just to look at the scenery. Furthermore it makes us feel like we have some actual control over our characters behaviour (which doesn't strike me as all that unimportant in a game with RPG elements).

Is this really that big a deal? I'm sure it will holster/unholster as we go in and out of combat, sort of like how its been the past 2 games. Is it so important to have manual control of holster? In ME2 you couldn't even take your weapon out in population centers, so really you guys are making such a big deal out of being able to holster your weapon in a combat zone?

I remember a few years back, when i first bought my 1 Gb single memory stick. I thought that was huge!
I also remember when i acquired my first VGA card with 1 Gb of memory. I though things were getting out of control.
A few months back, i bough my first single memory stick with 4 Gb, I remember that i though this sh** was crazy!

But when Bioware calls 2 or 4 MEGABITES significant in an animation game, well, sh* just got real.

Yes this is a big deal. Once again, AFTER you have cleared a combat area, just like in the last 2 games, you could holster your weapon, take in scenery, great camera angles, walk around, look at crap, etc.. This made the game more enjoyable for a lot of people. A feeling of being completely immersed. You know, like what an RPG is supposed to feel like??

Why are people acting like this was never an option before?

So I just cleared the small room where Mordin was. I pointed my gun towards Liara and Garrus, they kept ducking like I was going to shoot them, then standing up, then ducking, because I can't holster the damn gun.

And they had their weapons lowered, lol. This is beyond annoying, it's simply stupid.

Yeah this is one of those things that isn't a deal breaker but more of an immersion breaker, in ME2 I would always holster my weapon after most firefights just so I could walk around and look at my surroundings or just look at Shepards armor & it always irked me that the squadies kept their weapons drawn, "guys theres no one here, lets chill out for a second!".

Please dev's if you cant put in the option to holster, than can we just have Shep lower his/her weapon like the squad mates do? :crying::crying::crying:

After the loading screens of Mass Effect 2, which ruined some of the immersion for me, I'd love the weapon holstering to come back. Otherwise, I can see it turning out the same way... annoying and unrealistic.
If that's completely impossible, at least let Shepard lower his weapon. Unless that's also impossible.

Basically, if I wanted to play a full-on shooter, I'd do that, thanks very much.

Protest with your wallet. That's the only way these people will learn. As it stands, they do whatever they want and expect you to "just accept" it and pay your money anyway.

Sad thing is, most people will do just that, accept it. There was absolutely no real reason to take that option out since it was in the last two games. It's not like it was never there to begin with. Why screw with it??

Seems like Bioware dropped he ball here, I know two people that are going to kill their pre-order because of this. They wil get the game I am sure, but they will buy it used most likely. Why are they moving backwards now? Why remove something that was in there before?

It REALLY annoys me as well. The combat levels can be very lengthy, so I am gong to have to run around the whole time now, with my gun drawn, and look like an idiot. It takes a a part of the game away that allowed me to get more immersed. This is just sad, that a company like BioWare could take something out, leave a bad taste in peoples mouth, in what could be the last ME game.

The sad thing, it coudl be fixed, there are always pre game patches that need to be installed, put it back in BioWare, put it back in.

Thank you, your reply does matter and hopefully bioware will adress the issue. Is this why Mass Effect 3 was delayd for the better part of the year? To have the last remaining RPG element removed? To satisfy the (larger audience)?

In any case, what upsets me the most, is bioware never said anyting about  the holster being removed untill a few weeks from launch.

I wholeheartedly support this thread too, but it's a fact that the consoles make for a significant portion of the gaming market and until the next gen consoles appear it is very likely that some PC games will be "hobbled" to match the existing ones.  If I'm being totally honest though, I hardly ever holster my weapon except for grabbing screen shots or checking over how a shep build looks during play.  I know that shep looks a bit stupid with his/her gun held out all the time, but at least in "combat ready mode" he/she moves faster (in ME2) and that's why I don't always holster.  So I can live with its omission but I know that I'll miss it just by knowing that its not there anymore.  But don't hold your breaths over its re-inclusion - the game has gone gold and we'd have to wait for the first patch at the earliest to see it back.

It does not need to be in the game they clearly told you that you holster your weapon after combat is finished .

I'm sorry to say, but that's not true. Once the combat is finished in the (Combat Zone) you still walk around with your weapon drawn. That means: Slower walking, less immersion (for those that enjoy the RPG element Mass Effect always offered), also your field of view is limited when your weapon is drawn. These are some from a long list of reasons why the holster option NEEDS TO BE IN THE GAME, it gives the players a prespective that allows them inhance their story, their adventure.
