I heard that when you imported an ME1 character into ME2 you couldn't get a facecode for your chracter in ME2 because it's impossible to replicate the character exactly with the menu options. ME2 actually used the polygon structure data of the ME1 chracter in ME2 (to keep it the same).

Maybe ME3 will do the same with your ME2 import? Seems logical they would repeat how they did it previously.

However Bioware's silence makes me doubt this assumption.

I have question:

When I import my level 30 soldier how many points I will be able to spend?

I really, really hope Bioware will fix this issue, or that it won´t be an issue in the final version. The thought of not getting to play as my canon Shepard is very disheartening.. :(

Because you can't just create the same face again...

I'm curious how many of you used gibbed to get your "canon" face.  That might be your issue right there.

I wouldn't actually expect the codes to be the same between ME2 and ME3, since ME3 does actually add one or two extra things (eye colors and hair colors and a few new hair styles, mostly; still no normal straight nose despite the fact that both default faces and most human party members have them anyway, however... why is that?). It's not horribly difficult to reconstruct "your" Shepard's face, though, if you're willing to take the time to fiddle with the sliders manually.

So still no response from devs about more advance custom creations, more hairstyles and character face imports

I must try to recreate my shep with demo custom creator at least someone looking similar :-(

I wonder can you import your character from Mass Effect 2 to 3 and change his or her appearance.I need some extra touches to my female renegade Shepard like a new hairstyle.

Loaded up ME2 and ME3 at the same time, put them both in window mode and alt+tabbed between them. Copied my code from ME2, then created new game in both and pasted the code in to both.

Most of the sliders line up fine, but the following were out:
- iris colour
- hair colour
- eyebrow colour
- eye shadow

Although the sliders were in the same position for everything else, I did have to change a few to make them look similar to my ME2:
- eye width
- mouth depth
- lip size

Here's a comparison:
Image IPB

Middle pic is paste of ME2 code into ME3, and right pic is tweaking the above settings.

I think the skin colour is also wrong now I have them compared, so that's another thing to consider tweaking.

However my issue is with the quality of the rendering and the textures. There just is no comparison. ME2 looks much "nicer" and more realistic, whereas ME3 looks like Half Life 2 engine graphics. I really hope this is different in the full release.

ME2 demo to ME2 full game was same in terms of graphics quality... worrying.

Edit: what I mean by last statement is there was little difference if any between ME2 demo and it's full game, so if ME3 full game is as bad as the ME3 demo for textures and rendering... urgh. And I'm talking PC with settings on max and my graphics card set to max quality settings.

I'm wondering the same thing. It would make me feel a little better to know that if I don't like how she comes out when I import her that I can tweak her to my liking.

This is terrible. My Femshep looks absolutely nothing alike! If it stays like this then, quite honestly, I wont be able to play ME3 until I or someone is able to make a mod/patch/texture change to make Shepard look at least remotely recognizable. I have too much emotional investment in my character to play as someone else (spoken like the true fanboy I am)

as I already said, the character code is for ME2, not 3.. which is why using it in ME3 gives strange results.

If ME3 is like ME2 it will probably use the same method of importing ME1 into ME2; it'll use the polygon\\texture info from the previous game (ME2 in this case) to construct the face rather than the ME3 character creator...

.. this is an assumption but a logical one since thats what was done previously.. only thing that puts doubt on this is the fact bioware continue to remain quiet on something they could easy lay to rest with a few lines of text..

The devs already said that the demo's CC wasn't the complete version. So, it's possible this problem has already been fixed.

I'm curious on whether we'll be given the chance to tweak our Shepards at all. I love my Sheps, but there are some things I'd change given the new CC options.

Didn't the demo come out shortly after Arrival, when the main game was solid, and they had plenty of time to take the game, as it was well out without caring for major spoilers and game mechanic crunches?

You really need to list a source when you state something like this :P.

Add another plaint - my femShep doesn't look like the one I made. Image IPB I had to fiddle with the CC before I got one that looks like her and the code differ in a few places. I doubt anything can be done to fix it. I guess I'll be spending time playing around with the ME3 CC, like the other 2.

It was a tweet from one of the devs from bioware. Someone posted it in another thread. Unfortunately I forgot which thread it was in :(

The tweet said there will be more hair options and hi res graphics in the full version.

Hopefully this will make the big difference, as for me, although I had to tweak my shep from pasted face code, it was the poor render quality of the end result that was bad, not necessarily the model.

I just tried the chreator, and saw something that gives me hope that this will be fixed, if you scroll throught the slider and look at the numbers down in the code, you will see some missing, try it with hair color, you will see that the numbers are not even in order they go like "2>4>8>6" or some are even missing.

This issue has been discussed on other sections of the forums since the release of the demo but I guess it has it's official place here.

Ever since the demo was released many players have used the Mass Effect 2 identity codes to import the appearance of their Shepard into the Mass Effect 3 Demo. Results have been varied and especially the apearance of Female characters do not seem to match. As example this is the default female Shepard from Mass Effect 1 and 2 imported to Mass Effect 3:

Note: Importing the default code makes her a blonde, I change her hair colour to red which is why one segment of the code doesn't match.
Image IPB

As is obvious the result isn't quite alike, hence quite a few people are worried that their Shepard won't look as she used to when they start playing ME3. Now we know it's a demo and we're used the code instead of an actual import feature but it still has me worried since the appearance is so different than that of the previous game.

i also play as the me1/2 default i also have alot of concerns regarding import and somone told me that the import funcion don collect the facecode that is used in the customizing funcion but raw data. so my logic concludes that the defaults in all mass effect games has no face code is a model completly seperated from the customized ones.  like liara and mirandas faces.  so it will probably import over just as it is
