It could be explained by the Reaper IFF installed onboard the Normandy.

Might fool some oculus as long as they are out of visual range.

It did not fool the oculus controlled by the collectors though, at least not when they got in visual range.

I doubt the reapers are fooled by Normandy pretending to be a reaper.

uhh there was a reaper (the landcrawler thing that took out the transport shuttles) like pretty much eye to eye with shephard and the normandy.  they didnt need radar.. unless of course the reapers are blind.

the reapers are machines, their is no reason to belive that they dont see the same way normal ships do.

because joker is good at flying

or more likely, it was so small the reapers close to it thought it insignificant

I'm pretty sure the Reapers still want Shepard alive...

Reapers can only see heat signatures. Normandy's stealth systems where active, masking all heat sigs

It doesn't work in atmosphere. It only masks emissions, not reflections. Otherwise the ship itself would be black.

To reapers organics and their ships are pretty insignificant on an individual scale. Though Shepard was basically staring right at that little reaper that killed the kid so you think that reaper would have noticed the normandy and taken a shot at it. Oh well.  Then again the reapers should be quite familiar with the Normandy as the collectors encountered the Normandy on more than one occasion and it was the Normandy that destroyed the collector cruiser.

Reapers were distracted probably. They probably were directly looking for shepard like the collectors were.

It would have been interesting to see Shepard lead the resistance from Earth (if the Normandy was destroyed before Shepard had a chance to board it).

i dunno man, i would think they would have some way to detect heat signatures and have something that identifies shephard..  he was staring right there at them.

but again, they may have been programed to NOT shoot down the normandy or shephard because they want him to suffer and see his people get destroyed..

It shot the shuttles that were rather close to it. Then it blasted at whatever was atacking it from the ground (we see tracer shots being fired at it).

The Reapers are robot things, they don't have eyes like inferior beings of flesh. That's great for them because they won't get cataracts and stuff when they get old, but the downside is that they're pretty much dependant on scanners to see anything so if there's something that has the ability to hide from those scanners... well sucks for them.

Normandy SR1 stealthed its way to Ilos past the geth fleet, and presumably Sovereign, and noone blinked at the explanation why assume that the new upgraded Normandy has inferior stealth capabilities?

Seriously, you need to go back and read the engineering codex on the stealth systems.

Yeah that is why they are going to take their time with earth.  Not to mention they also want to convert people into husks to build up their ground army.

Those are harvesting lasers they're firing. Not vaporizing lasers.

Terror. To be destroyed from orbit has far less impact on moral of a species.  Besides once the major resitince is broken the surviours will be hearded in camps to be coverted in the stuff new ships are made from.

Just imagine the terror spreading to the other species as they find out what is happening to Earth and they know they are next.

I wouldn't call them sloppy.  Maybe overconfident but not sloppy.

The Emperor wanted to corrupt and turn Luke to the dark side and he almost succeeded.
Sarlaacs DO NOT digest something in a matter of minutes they disgest over
millenia.
Obi-Wan turned into the force.

So why didn't the Normandy get blown out of the sky?

I thought Shep was gonna die in the council room. Atleast Anderson when he was standing in the center of the destruction calling for Shep.

Then Shep almost got zapped by laser 2 times and then the 3rd time he fell a good 50 meters.

Really? Shep just keeps cheating death. I wonder how many times he does during the rest of the game.

Total tally: 1 death (which didn't last) and 500 near deaths. The new badass record.
