I don't know, but The First experience of the game is 'special' and it will be more rich if it's full with details I can recognize, i think
This is a crazy idea, but DONT import your saves the first time through (minor spoiler)

Yep, that really does sound crazy. I intend to that at some point, but certainly not on my very first playthrough. You only get one first playthrough, and it's not going to be wasted playing as RandomShepNumber1.

I suspect I'll be far too curious to try a non-import first of all in ME3, though.

I want my first ME3 experience to be my personal Shep, see how his story plays out

I actually see the logic, having done the exact same thing for me2 (not on purpose just didnt keep my saves). Going back in again with an imported save and seeing all the changes, even things like the news etc.. Actually now I think about it, it made me the rabid bioware fan I am today.
Thanks for the reminder Chris!

There were no major changes that seemed to matter
if you let the council die , the citadel was supposed to be a police state, looks exactly the same. All we see are two mad asari and the occasional "you let the council die" here and there. Missions were not affected
Tuchanka. Wrex is replaced by Wreav. Nothing interesting of note
Conrad Verner for people who did not kill him
The VS reuinion.
and like 2-3 news blurbs
I would not call those major changes but minor tweaks
and that is what i expect for me3 as well

In that plot where the krogan was just a random krogan in charge of a troop, now it is Grunt! And the ending I saw previously with the default guy changes in interesting ways because it is Grunt and he and Shepard have history and stuff (I won't go into spoiler details, but it is wicked cool) and there is SO MUCH more like that through the game. Some major some minor.
Ok, one little spoiler as an illustration, but it is minor. Remember that couple in ME1 on the Citadel debating whether to have a child or not? If you import, they are in the game! If you don't, their role isn't there. These are the little details you pick up only when you know they weren't there the first time.
What? That is Grunt's role? An interchangeable squad leader? Who appears on 1 mission? With some of the usual "How's it going Grunt", "Thanks Shepard couldn't have done this without you" conversation after which Grunt's gone? That is for one of the former squadmates? I really hope you make it sound lamer than it is.
Oh, and the couple appear like they appeared in ME2 having some short and shallow conversation?
Sounds like most variables are exactly like they were in ME2, which is what I feared. Sounds like I'm going for imports and skip the blandest default option completely.

My first play thro' of ME2 was a "default run". Ok, it was not my first choice, I'd forgotten where I'd stashed my ME1 saves and was too impatient to hunt them down. Enjoyable run; stopped Tali from being convicted of treason, tho' she was exiled. Nuked the Thresher Maw. Udina made sense. TIM made sense. TIM got his base.
Second play thro'; starting with an ME1 save - Noticed loads of subtle (Tali's dialogue on first meeting Shep/ Normany communications) and "blunt" changes (Rachni queen's representative/ Gianna Parasini/ Fisk/ Rana) in the game. Just made the re-run sweeter. Hell, stopped Tali from being exiled that run... hadn't realised it was even possible. And ... another save for ME3.
Many other saves followed.

I get what you're saying, but I can't. Seeing my choices play out and meeting people Ive met before and how that also plays out depending on how I treated them, is reason I heart Mass Effect. Interresting idea though Priestly.
