Is there a chat feature at all? I'm not going to be able to hear people talk.

I have played many MP games and none of them used the voice feature. But no there isn't a chat feature that I have seen and I dont think there will be one. The game is way to fast paced to stop and type something out.

Then I would assume that they would face the same challenges concerning communication they might find with playing any other online fast paced action game

99.99% of the time in public games, the only thing voice chat is used for is racial slurs and telling people how bad they are.  You wouldn't be missing a whole lot on that front and I don't know why you would even want to interact with them.  Even still, stuff is pretty face paced as it is and text based chat wouldn't work very well except between rounds, and you can use a chat program if you want to chat with your buddies then.

yes there is a chat function cause if you go into the options in key bindings there you press T for text chat but you can't chat in the demo.
