You could get used to it, I mean, significant parts of canon and the universe itself were changed in ME2 itself. That's just another one.
But if we look at that this way: Thermal clips serve the role of ammunition, so a certain military slang in the Alliance spreaded the new name. Or whatever.
I hope that will be the game's bigges lore issue. :)

I don't think it's a canon change. You can say ammo faster than thermal clips, so it just might be practicality on Anderson's part. Also the thermal clip technology still is relativly new in-universe, while ammo is an old, known concept. So Anderson might just have slipped. And third, i could swear somewhere in ME2 someone calls clips ammo, so this mistake was made before.
It's a mistake, but one i can believe characters are making.

I called thermal clips ammo anyway, along with anyone I knew who played the game.

I think he is doing the same thing. "Thermal Clip" taks longer to say then "Ammo". I mean in battlefield/COD (etc)... or real life, for that matter... a soldier doesn't shout "I'm out of 5.56x45mm NATO pattern rounds!".

The "ammo" they pick up off the floor, and when they reload, is clearly still a thermal clip.

So? Who wants to say "thermal clips" when you can just say "ammo".

I tend to see ammo/thermal clips as a game play concession kind of like biotics using powers constantly even though the lore states that they can only do so a couple of times a day - it's put in there to make the game play better and that's it.

Shepard: We could certainly spare the ammo.
Jacob: You're right. But I'm not taking the shot.
*gives gun to his Dad*
Ronald Taylor: Half charged!? You've seen the crazy ones. This won't stop them!
Jacob: It's not for them... Dad.
*Shepard and Co. walk away*
*Ronald Taylor shoots himself*

My point is, ammo is still a common concept in the ME2 universe, even though Thermal clips are much more significant since the "block of metal" which serves as the real amunition for the projectiles is relatively infinite shots per weapon.

It's not like ammunition never existed in the world of Mass Effect. It's not Star Wars, set long ago in a galaxy far away; it's a depiction of our fictional future. Archaic terminology is allowed to exist.

OH dear we can not have logic and common sense in these threads to put a debate to rest, what else would there be to post?

What, no one has yet pointed out that ME2 called thermal clips "ammo" several times? Ok, I'm pointing it out. ME2 called thermal clips "ammo" several times. Shepard even says, "I'm out of ammo."

They could also say, "I'm out of clips!" and it would be just as fast. But "out of ammo" works too.

YES! I was just going to say that. "Clips" makes just as much sens as ammo. It works with the game's canon as well as modern terminology.

... This, is what they should have said. But who cares really. I noticed the change, it made me think, but there's no grudge bulding in my head against the voice actors for screwing up a name for some made up technology. No biggy.

It's just a colloquialism. Seriously, it's not even a tiny issue.

If he said "heatsinks" then the Gears of War fans this game is targeted towards would get confused and switch the demo off.

Ah, and i thought we'd make it to 20 posts without such hostile comments. BSN never fails to disappoint. :D

Where does the lore state this? It's certainly not true in any of the comics. And I can only recall Revelation noting that use of biotics was tiring, not that their useage was so limited as to basically be pointless.

Though it's been a long time since I read any of the ME novels.
