Headlines for 27 June 2012

Gazing into his crystal ball, Mooglator prophesies that he shall leave City of Athkatla and not return for one or maybe two weeks. To make amends for his imminent absence he has filled this week's Sunday Update with an ophthalmic-dentist's nightmare worth of eye-candy. Including, but not restricted to, these fine fellows ...

Completing a summer-time trilogy of mods, and doubtless saving the best to last, Sonmeister created a new project for the somewhat icky sounding Infested Grounds, especially since it looks like it might be the Darkspawn doing the infesticating! The module itself is available to download from Dragon Age Nexus.

amcnow has created a new project for an updated version of his Respecification DAO mod which provides you with in-game items to respec your character and companions to take advantage of various community classes and specialisations. The module is also available to download from Dragon Age Nexus.

New on the Nexus

Delving into the latest files on Dragon Age Nexus (not already mentioned above) we find John Kelly providing additional eye-candy with his Dragon Age Graphics Enhancement utility; and The Celt giving an old girl a new look with his Re-imagined Wynne as Laurie Holdon mod.

Headlines for 4 July 2012

Taking time out from breaking in a new VO artists (with emphasis on the breaking), Challseus has been testing and tweaking enemies and encounters in his Rose of Eternity module. We can see from this his most recent journal post that the importance of this work should not be underestimated. Immolation, it appears, is all just part of the fun:

New kid on the blog Deano1981 is back at the helm of the good ship DAO: Defense of the King after a short in impromptu holiday. Well it is summer so I suppose we should complain too much. Fortunately, as his recent blog post reveals, he spent the time, wisely, writing for his forthcoming module! Now if only he could get Dragon Age to load ...

New on the Nexus

Delving into the latest files on Dragon Age Nexus we find makara5656 is equipping us with the DAII Weapons mod; Philogosten is raising the bar with the Level 99 mod; Sonom is spoiling us with her Elven Female, Human Female Widow, Young Wynne, Morrigan, Leliana, Soley, Feithlinn, Michael, and Rook presets; and angel97 is topping things off with a new Leliana Morph!

Headlines for 11 July 2012

AmstradHero outlines the painstaking lengths he is going to for his The Shattered War project to ensure that every line of dialogue is as good as he can make it. This week in his blog he talks about all the different elements that are required to achieve that.

Newshound turned cinematic director Allacia has taken the time to update her blog with a couple of posts that modders, especially those with a flair for the dramatic, might find interesting. She's also looking for ideas for companion romance cutscenes so drop by and give her some extra inspiration?

New on the Nexus

Delving into the latest files on Dragon Age Nexus we find: Kassuper is allowing us to fix at least one of our hasty decisions with the Rename Dog - Mabari Name Change mod; mochen and MateredDyn are providing a set of fresh faces with their respective Redesigned Companions and Team Morphs mods; and ZJ is giving Morrigan's verbal sparring partner a new look with the My Alistair Morph mod:

Headlines for 18 July 2012

Despite our inadvertent neglect for the last two weeks ago (apologies for that), Challseus continues to work on his Rose of Eternity module and is homing in on the "content complete" and "play testing" milestones. You can keep apprised of his progress through his journal where he like to post motivational pictures depicting what happened to Weekly Digest editors that fail to report the news accurately and on time:

The Ethereal Writer Redux is hoping to recruit a few likeminded individuals to join him in realising the potential of a certain fortification in northern reaches of Ferelden. So if that is something you might be interested in doing why not visit his Soldier's Peak: Rebirth project to find out more?

Returning to his duties as City of Athkatla tour guide, Mooglator makes an explosive entrance with a couple of cutscene stills; the latest Shadow Thief fashions and an update on the excavation of Bodhi’s Lair! All of this can be found in this week's Sunday Update.

New on the Nexus

Delving into the latest files on Dragon Age Nexus we find Parochy streamlining the start up with the DAO Launcher Redesigned mod; Taerie making some characters a little easier on the eyes with the Daveth Justice and A Different Finn mods; Killeen polishing up our polymorph abilities with the Improved Shapeshifting mod; and StevoSegalovic wielding the plastic surgeon's scalpel in the DAO Faces mod!

Self-confessed Alistair-phile, QueenPurpleScrap has uploaded two morphs to her Alistair Matures project which she feels better reflect a slightly older, wiser Alistair. She's also given him an earring to symbolize his freedom from the Chantry and the way he idolizes Duncan. This mod can also be downloaded from the Dragon Age Nexus.

We still appear to be suffering a slight satellite delay to the Rose of Eternity journal, possibly aided and abetted by an evil nemisis called Isp, Nevertheless Challseus is riding the play testing wave with all the mad skills of a professional surfer who's just been handed the biggest endorsement in the history of forever and has managed to play the Rose of Eternity module from beginning to end! Further he is naming names in a dastardly attempt to expose the voices behind the, um, voices!

New on the Nexus

Delving into the latest files on Dragon Age Nexus (not already mentioned above) we find ViLiSSa bringing a twinkle, or even a glow, to our eyes with the Eyessss Replace by ViLiSSa NOW for DAO and Wardens on DAOA by ViLiSSa mods; StevoSegalovic slaving over a hot forge to bring us the Juggernaut Armor - Helm Replacer  and Warden Commander Armor Set Replacer mods; zeakapoo chatting us up with the Banter Now mod; and Gewitterwolke arming those rebellious Elves with the Might of the Dalish - Arcane Warrior Items for Awakening mod.

Headlines for 1 August 2012

City of Athkatla tour guide and occasional art gallery custodian, Mooglator, attempts to satisfy our thirst for Baldur's Gate 2: Redux news by drowning us in a veritable tidal wave of images in this week's Sunday Update!

Also attempting to sate our appetite for eye-candy, AmstradHero has uploaded a new trailer for his module, The Shattered War, to YouTube. There also a new screenshot for you to feast your eyes on in his blog.

Having taken some time off while incrementing his age to recharge his batteries, Challseus is once again tirelessly working away on his Rose of Eternity like so many Duracell bunnies. The most recent entries in his journal reveal how he is systematically squishing bugs and integrating VO from his menagerie of (relatively) tame voice artists.

New on the Nexus

Delving into the latest files on Dragon Age Nexus (not already mentioned above) we find StevoSegalovic polishing up a freshly forged set of equipment in the form of the Warden Commander Armor Set Replacer mod; and ShepShy whipping out the curling tongs for the Hairstyle Day mod.

Headlines for 8 August 2012

Armed only with a rolled up newspaper and a great deal of patience, Challseus has been crushing bugs in and misconceptions of his Rose of Eternity game! As ever his journal entertains us with the myriad of tasks that go into game development as well as the occasional astute tennis observation. And, as if that wasn't enough, he even found the time to start a riot (of colour):

No sooner had last week's issue left our virtual printing press than Lord Methrid dropped us a line to let us know about his on-going machinima project Galaxia. By all accounts the script is ready and the machinima will be produced using Dragon Age Toolset. Additional inspiration will be provided by dedication of the cast and the support of the Dragon Age Builder Community!

Building on last week's trailer, AmstradHero has been giving us an insight into what he's been up to recently while working on The Shattered War. In his blog this week he talks about aspects of the play-testing he has been conducting and reveals that that some quests can be solved entirely through dialogue and exploration rather than through combat!

Coming to the aid of potentially beleaguered builders, sea- has created a new project to provide alternative versions of some of the existing campaign levels at different times of day. The explicitly named Single Player Levels Time of Day Tweaks project has raw level files (with lightmaps included) just waiting for you to update your Origins game or incorporate into your standalone module. Please read the instructions before consuming this stimulant!

City of Athkatla tour guide and occasional art gallery custodian, Mooglator has laid on another visual feast for us. On the Baldur's Gate 2: Redux banquette table this week are more stills from the opening cutscene and a couple of new angles on a well known location. All of these succulent delicacies are served up for your delectation in this week's Sunday Update!

cmessaz has created a new Beta Testing Group dedicated to testing, brainstorming and, if needed, offering some moral support as she returns to modding DA:Origins. From a quick glance at the future plans it appears like there is something new and exciting in the works for each of the romancable companions and a couple of the more popular NPCs. So if this sounds like something you would enjoy why not drop in and lend a hand or two?

New on the Nexus

Delving into the latest files on Dragon Age Nexus we find Kwiat_W is clothing us with the Robes of the Four Elements mod; Aldaroshka is accompanying us with the I Am Your Man - Zevran Arainai mod; amnes is protecting us with the Cleaned Blood Dragon Armor Texture mod; and ViLiSSa is watching us with the Elven Cats Eyes for DAO by ViLiSSa mod.

And Finally ...

This will be the last issue of Dragon Age Modders' Weekly Digest from me. After six months it seemed like an appropriate time to pack up my Toolset and move on to pastures new.

The goal of the Dragon Age Modders' Weekly Digest was to gather up all the Dragon Age Toolset related goodness that was floating around the recesses of the BioWare Social Network and the far-flung reaches of internet and deposit it right here on your doorstep. I like to think the Digest has done that and I hope that in the process it was, at least a little, interesting, informative and/or amusing: I know that I have been delighted to discover how vibrant the Dragon Age Community is and that it still very much alive and kicking.

I confess I'm a little sad that it is time to part company but before I do I wanted to wish all of those who are still slaving away day after day the very best of luck with their projects and I hope the rest of you all enjoy playing these creations when they are ultimately released.

Bravo sunjammer!

I know that I have greatly appreciated your efforts in keeping this digest running, and can only hope that someone will pick up where you have left off.

Your efforts in highlighting and promoting the efforts of Dragon Age modders have been extremely valuable and impressive, and it is sad to hear that you will no longer be doing this.

I too wish you the best of luck for your future endeavours!

The work you've done over the past 6 months has been magnificent, and you will be sorely missed. I admit this community hasn't developed as much as I thought it would (especially coming from the NWN1/NWN2 communities), and this weekly event was one of the things that gave me hope.

I wish you luck in everything you do moving forward.

*Bows deeply*

Thanks for your long-term hard work serving the community, Sunjammer. I know I've learned a lot from your examples over the years and appreciate what you've given to everyone.
