Peeps with the MP might have more hands on exp with it that why I am asking. I just tried it in SP and it seemed really crappy. So crappy it make my TV smell funny, lol. I know it wasn't the best power in ME2 but part of it's charm at least for me was the short cooldown and the long range to it but now the cooldown seems drastically longer as well as the range being much shorter then I remember. I remember having fun making Jack spam that bad boy.
I haven't been able to unlock much to play with with option of not carrying alot of weapons to play with cooldown reduction as a side note. Could conceiveable still be spammable but why not just save that level up point for something else now.
Is Shockwave as bad as it seems?

Eh...Shockwave now does actual damage (almost as much as Warp) and can be evolved to cause enemies to float and set up warp bombs. It is infinitely superior to its ME2 counterpart. There are evolutions to increase range and travel time. Also the cooldown is just 2 seconds longer and roughly the same as it was in ME2 compared to other powers, ALL cooldowns have been increased.

Dont bother with the floating variant imo you'd be better taking the cooldown evolution. Shockwave now detonates warp fields which is incredibly useful when targeting singularities or pulled mooks. I plan on using it quite a lot with my adept and vanguard.

the cooldown in the SP part of the demo specifically the one on the rescue missions have you overweight, thats why the cooldown are too long for everything, its cause the demo made you carry all 4 guns.

Shockwave is useful when attacking those guys that carry the shields, If its strong enough it creates a opening to shoot the guy holding it. Also it can buy you a lil more time against a Atlas, briefly knocking it back

It´s only usefull fully upgraded, which incase of Vanguards you´ll never do as those points are better spent on charge and nova. Not fully upgraded its only use is temporarily knocking aside enemies and those shields the gaurdians are holding. You can´t really test it on husks yet in the demo, but if it´s anything like in ME2 that will be a good use for it too.

In multiplayer shockwave on my adept is extremely useful even on lower evolutions.
1. Damages enemies through cover
2. Explodes warp affected enemies
3. Trivialises guardian fights. You can take down groups of them by standing right in front of them, spamming shockwave and shooting when staggered.
4. Gives you some space if you get backed into a corner and time to run off to cover
