No the bars are relative to class, the idea behind numbers is that they aren't relative, but the absolute value.Shepard the Leper wrote...
You don't need numbers to do that. Besides, when numbers apply only to one weapon class you cannot use them for comparison with other weapon classes. The point is to make clear what different features do, numbers are neither the only or the best way to accomplish that.

I thought the clip-size and the bonuses to armor dmg are what really made it rock, not it's pure damage.
