OK, one lore nitpick. Please don't take this as being whiny. Just an observation.

...if Noveria is the corporate capital of the Attican Traverse, why is it in Systems Alliance space?

Because the Alliance has expanded into the Traverse with new colonies. I believe this was covered in ME1 in the codex.

You know, if that's true then awesome.

It's the only thing that's irked me, lol.

That's how I'm recalling this too. Basically - the council lets the alliance colonize there b/c it's close to the terminus systems and they can "handle themselves" in the area without needing the council to get involved if there's a problem.

Yeah, true enough.

I guess there's also the fact that galaxy maps like the one we see in multiplayer don't really 'work' so well according to game lore anyway, as is pointed out in the codex. Since so little of the galaxy has actually been explored via mass relays, so Noveria being where it is doesn't really mean all that much. Just kind of a... thing.

I can see why certain locations are going to maybe confuse some other fellow ME nerds too. This map thing is nifty but it doesn't click entirely well with the franchise's 'everything's spread out' dealio.

Yeah, I definitely feel you there. I try not to get too picky myself but sometimes something like that just sticks out like a sore thumb at me and won't leave me alone til I've found an adequate answer. Praise be to the codex for that reason!

So it wasn't a mistake after all? And to think I was about to cancel my pre-order.

Because the Attican Traverse is Alliance space in many parts.

The reason why the Batarians left Citadel space was because the Alliance was winning colonization disputes in the region.

Also, Noveria wasn't a commercial center, it was a corporate loophole.

But within the context of said corporate loophole it recognized itself as the so-called corporate capital of the Traverse. Just echoing the codex dude.

Dude, alliance space is expanding into the traverse. Why do you find that hard to understand? It's mentioned in ME1, even by characters and not the codex.

Ah yes, Noveria. We have dismissed those claims.

Dude, Noveria is practically in the 'northern heart' -- not even remotely near the border with the Attican Traverse. I already dropped the issue as the first poster pointed something crucial out which I'd forgotten, but if we're pressing on the "is Jeff Zero dumb" schtick, there's where I was most confused. It's not only in Alliance space; it's quite well within its borders, despite being presented as largely alien-run.

Corporate capital in the sense that many corporations maintain headquarters/facilities on Noveria to exploit the, as Dean said, "loophole" (among other things), not in the sense that the planet is a major center of commerce.

Combine that with a generous helping of self-promotion on behalf of the NEB and you get: Noveria, Corporate Capital of the Attican Traverse!

That's how I always saw it anyways.

Considering his reply was joking as well.....hmm

I haven't actually noticed the planets on the galaxy map, how do you look at the planets on the multiplayer galaxy map?

Neat borders don't really make sense anyway. Aside perhaps from areas which were colonised prior to first contact, you'd expect everyone's colonies to be mixed up with each other, depending on what type of worlds are seen as best suited for which race.

It actually is like that. The way relays work does that already, the maps are not very accurate at all except maybe to show the "Seats" of power rather than an accurate map.

This.

The Council was constantly telling Udina, "The Alliance shouldn't establish colonies in the traverse. IUt's dangeroius and we won't proitect you."

But, Humans are all about conquest, so, the traverse slowly became Alliance space.
