Graphics need polishing, animations are bad, anyone notice their feet ever so slightly float off the ground when going downhill? Or how about when you sprint with an AR how the only portion of the body that moves is the shoulders?

Yup... they have mass effect fields in their feet it seems. And yes, they have robotic legs and hips.

Somehow ME3, took a turn for the worse in the graphics department. ME2 imo had better graphics, and at least they could actually walk on the ground...orbit the ground and move like a brick.

Anyone who takes an attitude like that just has no idea what they have. I do agree though, I did miss the point, because I didnt read through page after page of complaints about something that no one complaining can change. It's a game, and there are countless others out there. If someone is going to complain about a game then why is said person playing that game?

Why you live if you are gonna complain about life... that argument doesn't work.
Complaining it's the only way to achieve a change in this topic, so...

Super_Shepard doesn't follow his/ her own advise. If Super_Shepard doesn't like to see others complaining why he/ she is spending time in this thread.

Back to the topic: Sadly I don't think there won't be any improvements regarding the graphics soon. Manily because this is a PC platform specific problem.

I actually don't need to follow my own advise. I came into this thread and posted my own opinion about the graphics and was flamed for it, not vice/verca, and only because it goes against the general opinion. I didn't even say the graphics were good. I said they weren't what I wanted but it's irrelevant. Welcome to the internet.

Majority of the problems I had with the demo weren't so much graphical as animations. It doesn't feel smooth anymore. They butchered a bit too much for the aspect of "saving time."
The biggest problem

God, BSN members are harsh. Harsher then Bungie's. After seeing one game falling miles in front of my expectations (Halo Reach) I am kind of scared for the release of ME3. The graphics aren't that great but I wouldn't go so far as to say they are terrible. It's a demo and I doubt (hope) it's not the final disk version. Screenshots always look worse than the actual video so that's not a great representation. I did notice the bad texturing on the clothing though...

is it possible the graphics/animations have been chopped to make the demo more compact? The game-in-chief went gold - what two, three days ago? Clearly the demo was finished and ready to go long before that so there's at least a theoretical possibility?

Good plan! Heh heh heh.

Probably, yeah. Hopefully not before we can drink the delicious tears of angsty PC adolescents.

The faces look great, although the animations could use some work. We'll see how it turns out in the final release.

Considering it was just a demo, and a confirmed earlier build at that, thats probably not the final graphics. PC gamers need to stop ****ing, I'm sure a patch or 2 later you will get your HD graphics.

I loved Halo Reach, graphics in the BETA were hurrendous though, remember? They looked like ODST's...which everyone hated that game because the graphics were bad and the gameplay was weak.

As for ME3 I'm hoping that's the case too. I played the demo when it wasn't finished. Guy was in the window.

I don't understand what people are complaining about.  They look better than ME2's graphics (on the Xbox 360).

Were you guys expecting this or something?

I mean seriously, Mass Effect was never meant to be a graphical showcase. I think ME3 looks just fine as is. Looks noticeably better than both ME2 and DA2, too.

I got the demo on PC and it looks good. At first glance I'd say about as good as "ME2", which was beautiful on PC. *shrugs*

I will try to post a few pics later. Oh and as far as the textures I read this on Neogaf....apparently the texture files on this demo are 1/3 the size of comparable files from "ME2". So I'd assume the fact that this is a demo that has to meet the console's size limits is a big factor:

No, but forget the face, this hand is scary!

I don't necessarily expect it, but its possible.

HD textures are LARGE, and they wanted to keep the demo as small as possible (which they did an admirable job at with it being under 2 gigs). I wouldn't be shocked if the final game had higher resolution textures.

Or they might release a high resolution patch for PC only sometime in the near future. Bethesda released a 2 gig HD texture pack recently.

Anderson at least looks a lot better. Compare his ME1 face to his ME3 face. Or to his ME2 face, doesn't really matter.

It could do with high-res textures, but compared to ME2 the faces looked like they had more detail (I gave in and played the demo finally). What the whining is stemming from, I'm not sure. I switched to 1920 x 1080, and it ran just fine. Oh, some of the animations didn't seem quite right (facial expressions), but it seemed fine for the most part.

How much overhead could it have cost to give them more orientations?

No matter which direction they're actually moving, they're always pointing north-northeast. (And heading right for the nearest Reaper, incidentally.) They look like ancient sprites from some ripoff arcade game running around.

I'd almost rather have no sprites down there, as if that spot was evacuated already.

I thought it is a definite improvement over ME 2. They are good enough for the game. People should realize shooters need super graphics because they have short single player campaigns and have to lure people in to think they got their bang for the buck. ME is going to be 30-50 hours immersive single player RPG that can be played through multiple times and also has multiplayer. They only have so much time and money to spend on making ME 3 and lets face it delaying it so it can cost more and look a little better is bound to fail because some other game will come out looking better and you can't win.

Why compare to other games when graphics just have to be passable and make the game compelling? Mass Effect is its own game. It was always good enough to make the universe seem plausible. I don't need super graphics to enjoy a game though I admit it doesn't hurt.

I swear some people would insist tetris have 1080 p and hi-res textures with shadow and 16x aa-etc etc to play it.

Personaly I think they look fine but then again I think we are at the point where just about any game this day and age are going to have decent graphics so to me graphics are almost a non factor. Personaly I think people get too hungup on graphics it isn't like the game looks like an original xbox game or anything.

I don't think I'd like them to remove it. Earth is already a ghost town.

The initial sequence with the kid flying the toy shuttle is disturbing. There's a little patch of green there, for absolutely no reason, and there's not a soul to be seen. Not a single sign of life until the camera moves inside.

Is the future so safe that we just let our children run free? I hope the parents at least died before their kid did. That's what you get for not taking care of your children.

I also thought Shepard watching Vent Kid was a bit awkward, if only because of the possibility s/he did it quite often.
