Why compare to other games when graphics just have to be passable and make the game compelling? Mass Effect is its own game. It was always good enough to make the universe seem plausible. I don't need super graphics to enjoy a game though I admit it doesn't hurt.
In my view it's a valid argument when you compare what games could look like, and what ME3 offers - it's a far cry when compared to TW2 or BF3. And while I do like ME3's general look and feel, some animations are horribly stiff, some textures are bad, plain and simple. That doesn't make or break my game, though. I just wish we could move on from the current gen consoles to the next generation and leave the uncanny valley behind us, once and for all.
In short, at least for me, it's less about what we get is terrible (it's not, and visuals are just a part of any game, and definitely not the reason why I enjoyed past BioWare games), it's more about what could have been these days.

Yeah I agree it could be better but on the flip side it could have been worse. It will probably be in the top 25% graphic-wise of any game released within the last year and a year after.
Yeah I agree things might bump up when the consoles get improved but only a few games are going to show the level of devotion as they are now. There are only a few standouts because it costs time and money to go all out. Many dev studios are hurting even the titan EA so costs are a factor and we might see a little retrenching in the short-term. PCs have had the capability for years yet only a few utilize the max because so few have the systems to run it. Not feasible. After all pixar movies or others like Polar Express can cost around a hundred million or more to make with CGI graphics. Few games can make that back.

You are being incredibly optimistic here. Unless you are strictly talking Console Gamers, then yea.. I'd agree.

And thank you RiflemanUK for reminding me the sprinting animations suck. They do suck, no avoiding that. Anderson needs to stop waving his arms around. Don't know why Garrus and Liara kept crouching like that, I didn't notice it when I played through the demo but I hope that gets fixed.

Nah PC games too since a major amount are console ports or not graphic intensive to begin with. I only see maybe a half dozen being named right now. Considering hundreds released every year it's a safe wager.GirlPower23 wrote...

Besides for some textures looking a bit poor I think the game looked about how I expected. Surely not cutting edge (BF3-like) standards, but good enough.

Did none of you watch Usain Bolt trounce all those records at the Olympics?
Here, just watch their arms:
In my opinion the amount of arm movement is realistic, the legs... not so much.

People seem to have a hard time in grasping that discs have limited space. They especially have a hard time grasping this when thinking of a game's overall size (as far as things you can do) and graphics. Generally games with lots of things to do have lesser graphics when compared to games that don't have as much to do. Stop complaining about graphics when they aren't really that bad.
Yeah tell that to the guys at CD Project Red, who made a bigger, better looking game, with a smaller dev team and smaller budget.

But they're not Battlefield 3 good. That's for sure.
They are, however about equal (and even slightly better in a few instances) compared to Mass Effect 2. Most of the gripes have to do with textures, and I agree that the PC could get some higher resolution textures. This was an Xbox title first and foremost, so this is to be expected. Ultimately, the overall aesthetic and creative design is more important than the pure graphical quality. A game with inferior aesthetics and superior graphics might not always look better - and the opposite is true. Mass Effect has generally succeeded in achieving a good aesthetic along with graphics that, while having aged, have generally held their ground.
Apart from classy hairstyle, i think everything looks superb.

I'm sick an tired of poeple complaining if the game doens't use all the newest and shiniest graphics gimmicks.
Seriously, graphics are good enough. PC will prolly get a high-res texture pack.

Even Witcher 2 X360 version looks good than the ME3 PC version.

The graphics are poor, but normally i wouldn't complain about it, multiplatform titles just don't look great. But what bothers me is the inconsistencies. The squadmates have high quality texture suits, but the suit shepard and the rest of the alliance wears in the start of the demo, looks like its made in 1998. It's that blurry and ugly. Oh and AA doesn't do much, putting inject SMAA in ME3 will make it look a lot better...
Also waiting for the Nvidia Inspector.

This game has significantly less going on than games like Batman AC and Skyrim.. and vastly smaller.. yet look significantly worse. There is limited space on Discs.. but... you can use as many as you need. It's hardly about
"Disc Space." Definitely more to do with memory limits in the consoles, but that's not really excusable either.. The problem lies within BioWare and probably not understanding UE3 to it's full capacity. Don't think it matters anymore after this game anyway. DICE has basically given everyone at EA Games and their subsidiary's a beast of an engine. Ironically, BF3 destroys ME3 in everywhere graphically on consoles even.. and yet it has significantly more going on behind the scenes during MP Play.. just some food for thought.

Oh wow I didn't even notice when I was playing Andersons running animation was that bad... I did notice and laughed at him waving you to the radio though, and the 2d running sprites.
