How does this new system work?

I know the ME2 system was equal to the amount of paragon or renegade divided by the total available form all missions that occur on a given planet(even if you can't actually do that mission yet) and the resulting percent compared to a static number. Which was a horrible way to do this as it penalized players who were excited to visit new worlds and made the only winning route 100% paragon or renegade.

For clarity if you had 50 paragon points out of 50(100%) and then land on a planet that has 4 missions each worth 25 p/r points, you now have 50 out of 150 points(roughly 33.33%) simply from landing on the hub planet and before launching a single mission.

Thanks in advance

I liked the ME1 system, where I could level up intimidation and/or charm (Mostly intimidation)

Both Renegade and Paragon options add to the general "Reputation" bar, how it affects conversations I'm not sure - but I imagine it would be somewhat like ME2 but less restricted.

well they put both Renegade and Paragon on the same bar. That has means something......like you can use Paragon points as Renegade points, maybe?

It's just obvious that it will be no same thing with the one in ME2

Yeah I'm just hoping for an official explanation like we got on cool-downs.
ME1 system was simple and worked well--I do not know why they changed it.

My theory is that Paragon + Renegade = Reputation, and Charm/Intimidates are made available based on Reputation, and you can boost this through the class power bonuses.

I hope it doesn't have too much of an affect on choices. For example, I'm Paragon but when dealing with Krogan I always go Renegade, it's so much more fun and they like it... I'd hope a heavy paragon reputation won't cause my renegade interactions to get called out by the Krogan as trying to mislead them or whatnot... if that makes sense.

maybe it will be your rep that chooses how good a success rate you have and the paragon / renegade will just point out which you tended to choose more.

I hope it's better then it was in ME 2. I usually don't cheat, but I used a savegame editor to give me paragon and renegade points there jjust so I could act the way I wanted.
