Well, technically there is, but not at any location where there's another cover to roll to. Which is very, very common.
I play as an infiltrator, and for those spots where you're behind cover that's too high to vault and has a roll option, I find that half the time I cloak I try to leave cover to sprint forward to get to my new position/heavy melee an enemy/whatever, I just roll like an idiot and waste 2 seconds of my cloak time.
I'm not suggesting the controls need to be identical to what I did in ME2, but I really think that there should be a way to leave cover in the direction you want without automatic roll forcing you into a different cover. Maybe the backing up thing is just going to take getting used to, but I found this highly annoying in the demo.
There is no way to quickly exit cover to the left or right, only backward or jumping over.
