No matter what i do i just cant get ingame voice chat to work in multiplayer, when i psuh to talk nothing happens.

Im using a G35 and it is registered as primary and game registers it aswell.
I tried changing keybindings.
I tried running the game as administator.

Enyone know if im just missing something or is it broken?

Hi,

I look after the voice chat system so I can hopefully help you track down the issue.

How did you join the game? Did you accept an invite when the demo wasn't already running or from the splash (press any key) screen?
There is a known issue where if you join a game before the ME3 Demo is started or from the splash screen, voice chat will not function. We're investigating this.

Are you using Push to Talk or Always On?
Do you have "Force Voice Chat Audio" turned on or off?
These are both in the Audio settings.

Joe

I join with the Quick Match option so dont think that is the issue.

I use Push to Talk
Forced voice chat is off.

Thanks.
Can you please try setting voice chat to "Always" and turning "Force Voice Chat" on?

Also, does your voice chat icon (speaker) appear Blue or Red in the lobby? Does it ever light up when you talk (or do other people's)?

Just tested a few things and seem to be getting closer to the real problem

I tried changing the options to Always and Forced on and it did react for a sec which lead be to believe it was a sensitivity problem. I turned it back to Push to Talk and yup if i shout it works for a sec.

Ive tried turning my mics sensitivity up to full in my G35 settings yet it only makes a bit of a difference, literally have to stuff the mic almost in my mount to get a small reading on the icon, Ventrilo and Teamspeak works fine though so ME 3 might just lack some sensitivity.

And the Icon is blue.

Thanks. It does sound like the problem you are experiencing is to do with sensitivity. The blue icon means that the mic is being detected correctly.
I'll continue to investigate from my side, but unfortunately I can't provide a solution/workaround at this time.

I'm having the same issue. Whats frustrating is that I just played a game where all three other people had their voice system working fine. I tried setting it to auto detect, changing hot keys. Everything I could think of.

The mic is picking up my voice, as proven by the fact that I can get the little sound waves to show up, but my friend says that no actual voice comes through.

I was experiencing this issue as well. I'd hit push-to-talk, and see no reaction from the in-game Mic icon. I'd tried changing settings, keybinds, etc. Nothing seemed to work.
I then checked my Mic's input levels in Windows 7. It had set my USB Mic's input volume to 0%. Once I cranked that up, The game started recognizing when I used push-to-talk, even if I wasn't saying anything. People were finally able to hear me. I hope this helps.

I'm also having the same issue. I used the sound recorder program on my PC to confirm the microphone works and is able to record while I speak at a normal speaking level. Made a .wav with it and everything. Using the software for the Soundblaster Sigma I was able to adjust a bunch of stuff to increase the level on my mic.

In game however the icon is blue but I could not get people to hear me. Then I read this post and tried putting the mic IN my mouth as I spoke. That's when someone said they could hear me. This does seem to only be happening in the one application (ME3 demo). I just bought the headset yesterday specifically for ME3 MP, and downloaded and installed the latest drivers, etc.

Microphone issues aside, this is a fantastic game and thanks for working to correct the minor issues that crop up. :

My husband was having this issue and to resolve it we just changed his mic settings around a few times and then it suddenly worked just fine, not sure what the issue was but fiddling around with the output/input options managed to force it through.

Leonia42 - Was it the settings in game, or on the pc itself that you changed in order to get it working? I've tried both but I'm always willing to keep tinkering if it'll help things work :P

I've been playing with system's sound settings for awhile today to make voice chat work. And it looks like I did it! Finally, even my build in mic started working.

Try to shutdown any voice improving apps. In my case it was Andrea microphone technology on my Dell XPS laptop. I've also closed Skype and some other programs. After that try to manipulate system voice input settings but do that only after launching the game. Try to set the boost to max level mainly.

Good luck!

update:
And I can't here directions in multiplayer from now on <_<

The problem is that there aren't enough in-game options to get it working right. Nothing to adjust the sensitivity, boost, or detection threshold, and no test mode.

It's not just him. In fact, I've only ever seen one person on the ME3 multiplayer demo using the mic successfully.

Same problem in the retail game and deluxe.
I changed the sensitivity of my mike to the maximum setting and got "decent" result.
Sadly I now have tyo go trough all my other voice apps and reduce their mike input.
Please fix that asap.

Well, appearently they never fixed this :P since I'm having the exact same issue still. Can't use voicechat ingame cause even with maxed mic output, I'm having to scream into my mic for it to respond.

Why not just give us an ingame slider for mic volume?

I can't for the life of me get this to work, the input tab on options is not detecting any microphone, yet im perfectly able to speak over steam, skype and other games' voice chat.

The icon in lobbys shows as red/orange

Using G35 (usb), running as admin, tried forcing voice chat, ive allowed programs to take exlcusive control and the microphone is maxed.

Really annoying to watch a phantom run over and stab a team member because i couldn't warn them.

I'm also having problems with ME3 voicechat.

Although, my problem is with Push-to-talk. This worked a few months ago, but then it just stopped. Icon in lobby still shows blue. I changed the PTT button to one of my extra mouse buttons (with the secondary still being "B") and nothing seemed to work (force voice chat is on).

Was looking for forum solutions, and tried a few things: Changed settings to other devices (mic/speakers), exited game, went back in and set to proper: no change.

Eventually I turned PTT off, and set to Always On... and that seems to work. I really would rather not use Always On, but for now there's where it's set and I use the mute button on my mic hardware (Still using MS Gamevoice mic hehe).

Same issue; works fine with ventrillo, but Mass Effect won't respond to push-to-talk regardless of settings.

Why they left out text chat is beyond me. I realise, in-game, it's hard to read because of the spam, but I'd rather the option than not. If I biotic charge and get stuck in the ceiling, I'd at least like to let people know (because I can't talk to them because of the push-to-talk issue) that I'm not just sitting around and that I'm glitched.
