IIRC In one of the pulse episodes the designers were talking about the heavy melee and how it would lock on to the target which would force shep to turn and strike the enemy. Now I was curious, beacuse I didn't get any locking on feeling in my games, did anyone actually see their shep doing this? I tried every class atleast 4 times and every time no matter what direction or distance I was from an enemy my shep just hit, or missed, whatever was in front of him. Have the devs said anything about the system being removed? Or if any dev happens to be reading this, was this simply removed in the demo?

That's a good question. I more or less noticed the same thing myself. If I had decent aim before initiating it then it worked.
Granted, I am all for having to aim at the target you are trying to hit

It could be possible that this demo is simply old and missing that feature. I've been wondering the same thing.

It seems like sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

There is A locking feature. I don't know if it's THAT locking feature.
If you target an enemy and do a heavy melee, they stop moving.

That's exactly what I thought they meant, that the enemies stopped moving after you started your attack.

Yeah I agree, I think it just means they stop moving. Melee is still pretty hard to aim though.

I had two occurrences of my character turning with my target to apply the heavy melee just a few minutes ago. It seems as though they must still be in front of you when you actually start the action and the camera angle changes otherwise you can miss them completely if they're not directly in front of you or if you're too far away.

The locking feature applied to me as well. In the multiplayer the phantom would still execute me ninja style even if i was on the process of doing a back roll. My character model literally came back to the tip of the phantom's blade from the middle of roll. Annoyed the hell out of me.
