It doesn't seem like they would with the Reapers destroying Earth and whatnot. It seems like the whole game will be more linear and focused on defending Earth. I like having extra things to do that aren't mandetory. I enjoy taking a break from the main story in RPGs.

What do you guys think?

I don't think I'm spoiling much (They are in the trophy/achievement list) to say that there are N7 missions.

It's all speculation, since we're not allowed discuss certain outside sources of information that I've read.

However, I could just happen to say a phrase like

You don't need to be worried, there actually seems to be a great deal of side missions and optional content throughout the game, and the storyline progression begins to open up more as you progress through the game. There might not be any planet exploration in the sense of Mass Effect 1's Mako driving, but there are indeed expansive hubs in the vein of the Presidium and Wards of the first game, and many optional side missions of similar depth to Loyalty missions. There's more to the Galaxy Map then "go to the next storyline planet."

and it could mean ANYTHING. It could be completely irrelevant to Mass Effect 3. It'd be a statement that's just out of the blue, with no evidence to back it up at all. Ahem.

I should go.

Sweet, thanks! This makes me feel a whole lot better about buying this.

@cerberus1701
Thank you as well. I found that list by the way. Seems it was leaked.

For many including myself, this is the big question. It's been confirmed by Bioware a long time ago that exploration is an important part of the franchise and will be a part of Mass Effect 3. However what kind of exploration? That hasn't been elaborated upon. That's what many want to know. Bioware have acknowledged that there are fans that want the Mako or a similar vehicle back, the question is: Have they?

As game README says, there'll be exploration in the form of going into "Reaper infested systems" and doing "active scans", during which Reapers can notice Normandy and you'd have to run back to relay in real time. Those "active scans" will find you N7 missions of rescuing survivors, securing war assets and stuff. There're no refuelling stations in "Reaper infested systems"

Yes just as Bioware have said earlier, yet it doesn't confirm how those missions will look like and whether the Mako or a similar vehicle will return.

The leaked Achievement list for ME 3 on the 360, shows no Achievement(s) for any sort of exploration. Which is a sad thing to see. On a personal note, I loved Mass Effect because it implemented the use of exploration. It made the experience ever so more enjoyable.

Not that ME1 or ME2 had such Achievements, either...

Side missions, yes. Planet exploration, no.
